XP- Installing programs for users ?

How do I install a program for a certain user? I install under administrator (since nobody else can) and it seems that only I can run the program under my desktop. I created a shortcut once that did work (Rollercoaster Tycoon) but my most recent one (Age of Empires) gives me an error report.

I must be missing something.

can you rightclick the shortcut while logged on as the other user

and select the option to run as different user, and run the program as administrator?

any particular reason you didnt want to make these users administrators on this box?

Well, it's my kids, so I like to be the one in control of the computer settings. I'll try the right click idea- hope it works otherwise my eleven year old might get promoted.

why don't you grant him admin right to install the application and then remove it once it's finish. Most user depend programs works afterward.
