PC Monitor problem

For some reason, my monitor doesn't seem to work. The power light comes on, but no image comes on-screen. I know its all plugged in properly, but I am really at a loss.

HELP!

Perhaps the above will serve as an example of why we have dedicated forums...

Moving thread to Computer and DVD Rom forum.

I think the move was rather harsh, considering that anything goes in "OTHER", but whatever.

I don't work out my home, so I'm posting from work. And yes, I am good! Who told you?!?

So, does anyone have any advice other than "hit it" or "hammer it" ?? It's really confusing the crap out of me since I'm somewhat knowledgeable about computers. I just don't want to fork over some big $$ just to get a new one! (My current only 5 1/2 years old).

Is your power light orange or is it yellow?

If you have another monitor at your house, try it with your computer. That way you will know if its the monitor or the computer just isn't booting.

Do you know if the computer is actually booting?

Actually, it's "anything that doesn't fit in the other forums goes in Other," but I understand where you're coming from.

In any case, did you do anything differently or did you just turn it on one day and it suddenly wasn't working properly?

I also second Snowball's suggestion to try another monitor. Or to try the monitor you're having problems with another computer.

Also, is your cable kinked anywhere? Perhaps it's just the cable that's gone bad.

You could take it to a repair shop. They may be able to fix it, and depeding on what you'd buy to replace it, it might be cheaper to just fix your monitor.

Good luck,
-David

Thanks for the responses.
To answer some questions -- the light on the monitor is certainly green. Just no image will pop up. It's crazy.

I know everything is plugged in correctly, and I will take the advice to try another monitor with my system.

The weird thing is that for a few days prior, I would hear some noises that almost sounded like electric shocks when my computer would go into "low power" thing or standby. Strange.

Thanks for the help!
