Vudu library sharing problem

So a friend I share my Vudu library with is missing about 400 movies, and not seeing the new ones I'm adding. I understand that the Disney ones never share, but there are way more than that missing. Not sure how to fix this. He's looked at my library on various devices, all missing the movies from computer, to roku, to his phone. his cleared his cache, no go. any ideas?

I thought sharing went away when UV kicked the bucket. Not sure if it’s a Vudu thing or not. Maybe unlink then relink? Beware, I’ve heard that people what have done that, especially MA. People who have done that are saying a lot of movies that were HDX, got downgraded to SD after relinking.

Re: Vudu library sharing problem

When you say "library sharing" is he signed in to your Vudu account? Or are you talking about the old sharing feature?

If it's the old sharing feature, that was done through UV. Since UV is closed down, new titles will no longer be shared. Also a few studios dropped UV support over the past year. So it wasn't just Disney. And most indie studios weren't UV, so those never transferred.

Another reason physical media is better.

My brother's family has access to my entire movie collection. They can watch any movie, anytime they want. Even when they're on vacation. I don't have to worry about when (or if) they're going to return it. I also don't have to worry about damage when their dog chews on the case.

There are some reasons why physical media is better. But sharing is so much better with digital media.

Well, my son and his family lives in Texas and I live in Virginia. He uses my account to access my VUDU collection, a large portion of which are kids moves I have purchased for my grandkids. Physical media is not the solution for us, which is why I only buy digital now.

I guess when you share with family, it's an option. I like don't being dependent on "the cloud" for my movies. I partially old school that way.

Same for us, I have family scattered across the US. We use the same login. only drawback is when a new movie pops up, people will try and watch it at the same time. But everyone is pretty good about not starting it over if it's already getting played. But in no way would I ditch physical media. Family gets the lesser streaming, I get the 4k disc goodness in my home theater with 7.2.6 Atmos and big ass OLED TV. No streaming can top that.

I don’t think it’s a cloud. I think it is media servers. Large and many media servers. And only my dad has access to my account and that’s fine.

Re: Vudu library sharing problem

I ended up emailing both MA and VUDU together to try to get my issue fixed, one of them wrote back saying it's been escalated to Tier 2....so we'll see.

That’s funny. I never thought of the cloud as physical based till now. I guess it would have to be all physical, but thought it was just out there in virtual space or something

Re: Vudu library sharing problem

Received an encouraging email,

The VUDU and MA tech teams have identified a possible solution. There are a number of steps required over the next couple of days to approve the implementation of this solution. We should have a more detailed update by Thursday and will reach out to you then.

Thank you,

Ricardo
