Re: ESPN+ is now available

Thanks for the heads up.

The mlb apps also offer a free game every day too.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

I received mis-information from 2 different ESPN + reps over the phone today.

They both said that MLS Live was an ad-on(like MLB.TV) and there would be an extra charge for that service.

WRONG ANSWER!!! It's part of the monthly ESPN + fee.

I was having trouble accessing MLS Live on two different computers and it was asking me for a 7 day free trial when I was already a subscriber.

Another thing one of them said that MLB.TV was only good during the baseball season. If you subscribe to MLB.TV through MLB.TV it is good year round. So if you were interested in subscribing to MLB.TV through ESPN + ,I would call and ask if it was good year round first before subscribing. Same is true about NHL.TV when they start that officially next hockey season.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

Does anyone here get that ESPN+ service? I would like to stream those 30 For 30, but other than that, there isn't much I want. And that isn't worth $5 a month to me.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

I love it.

Every Saturday night they have a ton of soccer games(MLS and USL).

It has a free MLB game every day during the regular season and likewise for the NHL.

It will be interesting too see what they show in the fall and winter besides college basketball and football.

I hope they show minor league hockey because the AHL and EHL streaming services cost way too much.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

Just found out that ESPN Plus has a 30 day free trial and it ends today.

I signed up just to take a look at it. I might use it to catch up on some of the ESPN documentaries.

Probably won't use it much to watch any of the live games.

Katie Nolan has a new show on ESPN +.

Sorta a rip off of her FS1 Show.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/20/espn...ve-months.html

ESPN+, the streaming video service from the sports network, has reached more than 1 million paid subscribers, the company said Thursday.

It's an impressive feat, given the service just launched in April.

ESPN+ will stream 10,000 live sporting events in its first year, in addition to on-demand content and past sporting events. It features games from Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and global soccer events. It does not require its subscribers to buy a cable or satellite subscription, appealing to cord-cutters. The service costs $4.99 per month, or $49.99 per year.

"Combining sports, technology and the ESPN brand is a very powerful combination, and we are just getting started," Jimmy Pitaro, president of ESPN and co-chair of Disney Media Networks, said in a statement. "Very quickly, a wide range of sports fans have seen the value of ESPN+. With high quality programming and an outstanding user experience, ESPN and DTCI [Disney Direct to Consumer and International] are expanding the ways Disney is serving sports fans."

The ESPN+ service is part of parent company Disney's plans to increase its presence in the over-the-top streaming business. Disney also plans to launch a branded streaming service of its movies and original programming in 2019 and will pull its content off of Netflix. In addition, if the Disney-Fox acquisition formally closes, it will have a larger stake in streaming service Hulu.

Disney shares were up 1.1 percent After the announcement.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

Have they said anything about their subscription price for NHL.TV?

One good thing is you can watch 5 streams at the same time while the NHL.TV app allows only 3 streams at a time.

I wish they would get AHL.TV and ECHL.TV. Both are cheaper than last years versions and is supposed too be better quality.

That's a good reminder for me to cancel my free trial this weekend.

I like the content but I just haven't read it enough to pay for it.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

NHL.TV is a pay service that you can choose too get.

It doesn't come as part of ESPN+ but as an added extra.

They are supposed to show one free NHL every day(like they did with MLB and MLB.TV).

Re: ESPN+ streaming service

Just decided to re-subscribe to ESPN+ short term while I'm home most of the day.

I know there is no sports right now, but I figure I'll catch up on some 30 for 30 documentaries that I missed.

I actually missed Vick Part 2 when it aired, so going to watch it now.

Re: ESPN+ streaming service

That's one service I will probably drop since pro soccer is a long way from restarting and the NBA-G League is history for this season.

If ESPN Classic is still around I could see myself keeping ESPN+ if they got Classics programming.

It's a shame that all the major pro sports leagues pulled their programming from ESPN Classic making it basically useless.

They do have AWA Wrestling and World Class Wrestling they could put on ESPN+.

Do you not watch the 30 for 30 documentaries? They're fantastic. They have a huge library that will keep you busy for many hours.

Yeah, I have ESPN+ solely for soccer and baseball. Now that they’re out of business for now, I have no use for it. I don’t harbor the love many have for those 30 docs. Saw a handful, but none got me interested to see any more.

OJ Made in America is one of the best true crime and sports documentaries ever made and won an Academy Award.

If you genuinely have zero interest in them, then I won't waste my time trying to convince you to watch them.

I like NFL Films more than anything and thankfully the NFL doesn't care about YouTube showing just about everything from the past seasons.

Prefer-This Week in Pro Football,NFL Game of the Week and NFL team highlight films(prefer anything from the 1960s and 1970s).

So you only like NFL content in documentary form?

A few that are 30 for 30's that I can recommend:

Vick (4 hours long)

Seau

Four Falls of Buffalo (about the 1990s Bills)

OJ Made in America (10+ hour film)

Year of the Scab (about the strike season in NFL)

The 1985 Bears

NFL Films is the best of the best. Not what it used too be.

I seen some of those.

If ESPN+ isn't going to show live sports then it's dead in the water.

The ESPN app should have those shows instead of milking everyone for a monthly fee.

ESPN + is going up to $6.99/month and $69.99 per year starting on August 13th

I've had it grandfathered at $4.99/month since the $1 price increase. I guess it's going to do up to the new price?

And my grandfather price is now dead. Got an email from ESPN announcing the price update. I might just go for the 1 year $69.99 deal to save a little.

I get a free Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ package as part of my Verizon Mobile package - so far, no news that they're getting rid of it/going to start to charge for it.

Re: ESPN+ streaming service

I got in before the price change and pre-paid for a year of ESPN + for $59.99. It's now up to $69.99 as of today. I also got $10 cash back from Rakuten, so that brings it down some more as well.

My current subscription expires in 4 days, so I had to use a different e-mail in order to get it before the price change.

ESPN + is going up to $9.99/month on August 23rd.

and a 1-year subscription will jump to $99.99 per year

Unless you're a huge sports fan, I'm sure a lot of you will think the price increase is not worth it.
