Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
And while this is on LG TVs, the webOS version must be 3.5 or higher and our TV has 3.3.something and that is the latest for our model. Fortunately at this time we only have the free tier. The only way for us to watch per the availability is connecting one of our Laptops to the TV which is truly a pain. It was fine to watch Psych. Here's to hoping they get Roku app, an Amazon app, work with previous versions of WebOS, and the flurry of other Smart devices out there (just like the wish for HBOMax).

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Haha. I have a beta Hotfix on my 2017 Shield and Peacock won't even run on it. It says my device isn't secure.
Lame. |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
So Unsolved Mysteries (original with Robert Stack) is on this service. All 12 seasons. I already watched all of them on Amazon Prime.
But, I was sifting through it the other night and a lot of the episodes have the wrong episode description. At least the ones I looked through in seasons 1 and 2. Also, the old FOX series House is on this service. They changed the opening theme song from Tear Drop by Massive Attack to some generic music that is apparently used in the European version of the show. What's strange about this is the NBC app also has House and they use Tear Drop. |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
This is lame
I am not going to buy another device just to watch it or sit in front of my Imac for 4 hrs. I thought they would want it on every platform and TV that is out there and get more eyeballs but apparently they did not think of this stuff before launching the service. |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Yeah I dont get the strategy either. Thankfully I also have an Xbox One setup and can sideload the Android app on my bedroom FireTVs. The lack of Samsung/Roku support is mind bottling.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
I have zero interest in this. I don’t really see what it has to offer every other service doesn’t.

Peacock is indeed blocking HDMI connections to your TV. A lot of people who don't own devices that support Peacock tried to stream the live soccer matches on launch day to their TVs and they were blocked. |

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
I'll have to try it on my laptop hooked to the TV and see if it's blocked. I've never seen anything do that before on it. I tried to use my TV's internal web browser for it and it wouldn't even let me get to any show listings. So much for "Can't not watch."

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
You would think a late arriving streamer would have most of the technical and content issues worked out before launching. I could understand in the early days of streaming there would be hiccups but not at this stage. If you really want to become a major player and hang with the big boys you need to come out of the gates firing on all cylinders. Peacock isn’t doing that.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
So if I subscribe to NBC through cable provider, does that mean I get Peacock for free?

Sure you can get the free tier with ads, but if you don't have a compatible device, then it's worthless to you. |

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Yeah, I have android tv. I’m good, but I got every nbc show I want in Vudu. Cheers, The Office, 30 Rock, Seinfeld (don’t need or want), Parks and Rec, Chuck. They got nothing I would be interested in.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
So one issue I'm having with Peacock...I paid for no commercials but they built in fades for breaks and are ruining scenes, especially on comedies.
Let say they start a joke, it fades out (for a commercial break) then fades up after the punch line! At least on Hulu it's a hard cut so you don't miss anything. |

Use part of your stimulus money to buy an Apple TV 😜:D Then you can have HBO Max too.
I can get HBO Max on my TV |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Just tried it on my laptop hooked to my TV, it works. The screen goes black for a couple seconds as it checks for HDCP compliance and all that, but it comes back. Some quality issues but can't complain too much for free. We'll see if it ever makes it to Roku.

Peacock has 10M subscribers according to this data as of July 30th. But a lot of them are likely Comcast subscribers.

I mean, he's doing the radio show either way. |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Yes it’s his radio show broadcast from Connecticut. Before this deal he was streaming it for free on YouTube.
When DirecTV shut down Audience Network, he had to lay off his entire staff that helped produce it from LA and then did the show on the cheap for YouTube. |

Kevin Bacon’s movie You Should Have Left is on Peacock

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
I find mysef watching Peacock more than I expected. Namely to watch the old Unsolved Mysteries that always seem to be airing on one of the channels.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
I signed up for an account since it's going to be on Roku and so I can watch Yellowstone.

Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
The app is now up on Roku.
That was a pretty quick turnaround. Now HBO Max and Roku need to get things going as well. |
Re: Peacock -- NBC Universal streaming service
Does Peacock have "Grimm" available?
I searched the website, but have not registered. I didn’t see it listed anywhere in the shows section. I wasn’t sure if they listed more shows if you register. |
