Is this an ongoing show or a limited series? Can you go into this blind, or do you need to watch the original series first?

I don't watch many TV shows these days. But I just finished Yellowjackets last week, and that was great. So I'm looking for another show. This one sounds like it might be fun.

New characters and new story, but still based off the original source material, which was a book series. You don’t need to watch the original show. The writer of the book series is also an EP of this new version. They never promoted it as limited. The season is 10 episodes and three dropped today.

HBO Max is cutting live action kids and family programming. They just cancelled a kids live action show called The Gordita Chronicles.

I'll be honest, I didn't even know this premiered, and I had completely forgotten about Head of the Class.

I mean. I can understand why. I don't think live action kids and family shows get much talk or hype. Animation dominates all the talk. And it's next to impossible to keep up with it all in addition to adult shows.

The Head of the Class reboot was a terrible idea. They cast a 23 year old actress as the teacher. it was never going to work. The trailer for Gordita Chronicles actually looked good.

Some pretty major changes coming for HBO Max if Grace Randolph is right about this.

RIP HBO Max once they get rid of scripted content (which is basically what Discovery already is). I'm not sure how big the audience is for exclusive streamed reality shows but they're about to find out.

I would never forgive them if they touched Doom Patrol, Peacemaker, and Harley Quinn (unless they rolled them back into DC unlimited or something)

Is it?

LMAO if this happens. HBO is basically dead. A once prestigious thing is relegated to a tab in some shitty reality show app. Can someone big just offer to buy HBO and maybe DC?

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service

I thought that WB had hit rock bottom with the AT&T merger but Discovery has proved me wrong. They are right on the spot on fucking the whole WB properties in lieu of giving their shitty brand the top billing. Between cancelling scripted programming at TBS/TNT, screwing HBOMAX and apparently merging it into Discovery instead of the other way around and now cancelling the release of the completed Batgirl movie, this company and their CEO have proven to be the most inept one yet. I mean, I already knew they were fucking stupid with the firings of top executives that were well liked and respected in the industry but now, with all these debacles one after the other, it seems they are in the run for worst company ever

Yeah unless some major trade reports it, I call bullshit on that rumor from Randolph. If that is true, that basically means HBO Max is cancelling Peacemaker, Titans, Doom Patrol. Tokyo Vice, Harley Quinn and more. You basically fuck over James Gunn on Peacemaker season 2. Unless they plan to transfer all those shows to regular HBO, which really doesn't make sense.

Randolph has passed off bad scoops before and James Gunn has called her out on it.

I liked this gem. He's not the only one either.

She just tried to pass off the Batgirl cancellation as fake according to "sources," but changed her mind when she saw everyone else had confirmed it then added that her "actual sources" said it was canceled.

Randolph is not an entertainment journalist. Otherwise she would have a job at Deadline or THR. She's a former comic writer who is YouTube entertainment pundit, and thinks she's a journalist.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I pretty much only watch HBO content on HBO Max as it's much easier to watch it there than via a DVR recording off the linear broadcast and episodes of shows get posted right away as their air EST.

You risk damaging a 40+ year old brand name with prestige in cable to dump it as a "sub channel" in the fucking Discover plus app.

Talk me off the ledge, James Gunn...

This just seems beyond brutal, though, and all for a tax write off?

Ugh I feel bad for the crew of the Scoob sequel as well. He must be heartbroken that he and his staff have to turn off their computers after all the work they put in.

I liked the 1st Scoob movie and would have watched the sequel.

Glad that at least Peacemaker is safe but this sounds like a shit deal all around otherwise.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I hope that's clueless BS, but even if it is, it's spreading FUD.
HBOMax is my current favorite streamer.

I have never watched anything on Discovery, and highly unlikely would subscribe to a Plus.

How does this even make sense? Discovery is sharks and reality bullshit, HBO is decades of premium content, DC, Ghibli, TCM, etc etc.

I don't know how many people are getting it, and it seems penny wise/pound foolish to toss the long time branding of HBO to save this relatively small amount of money, but this would allow them to stop offering HBOMax for 'free' to AT&T customers with certain AT&T services. "We don't have HBOMax anymore, so you have to pay for Discovery, we didn't lie or cancel the freebie/discount."

"Unscripted" programming is a plague on television and society.

Apparently they have until mid-August to get their write-offs in order.

It sounds like Zaslav really hates what his predecessor did with HBO, WB and HBO Max and is trying to make cuts now to make up for the hundreds of millions in losses they took last year.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service

I never watched any of those Max original movies and it’s likely that most won’t even notice they’re gone. But it still sucks that those movies are bought and paid for and owned by the corporation, but the new CEO thinks dumping them is helping them.
