Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
Did HBO Max remove the option of using HBO Now gift cards to pay for the service? I was a subscriber to the latter for a while in 2019, but let it lapse. Around Christmastime then I bought some gift cards during a Best Buy sale, in anticipation of HBO Max. Now that they offer a cheaper $10 tier, I'd like to cash them in. So yesterday I went to the HBO Now gift card redemption site, inputted my username and password - which are still active on the main site and also logs me into HBO Max - but I get an error saying there's a problem with my username and password.
I did everything their troubleshooting said. I reset my password, tried a different browser, tried a different device, attempted to sign up for a new account with a different email, etc. I kept getting that error. I'd really hate for these gift cards to go to waste. |
Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
I still have a few of those cards, so I hope you can still use them. I know you can only use them if you don’t have an active account. You basically have to cancel and let your subscription lapse before using the cards. At least that’s how it was the last time I used them.

Like they can't figure out a way to incorporate them to HBO Max? FYI the $30 card gave me just shy of 2 months. |
re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
Y'all give me hope. Ha ha. However, I attempted to redeem a card yesterday and kept getting the same error. Tonight I'll reset my password again and see what happens. I'd ask, "don't you want my money?!", but since these are gift cards, they already got it.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
Please let me know how it turns out. I still have cards to redeem.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
Any of you with an LG OLED? Looks like you can install the HBO Max app if you switch your location to Mexico, download it, then switch back to USA.

Yup, it is. It's interesting how the Unrated version now passes itself off as the R-cut. The R-version has gone extinct! (That is, if you're able to find the VHS or the old DVD at a thrift store) |
Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
Can't believe they actually launched a new reality series called FBoy Island. Seems like Jack Donaghy has finally found a new landing spot!

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
The fact that they tabbed Nikki Glaser to host tells you how serious you should take it.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
It worked on my 7-series LG OLED. Looks like it works on the newer models as well.
I thought the non-OLEDs were using the same OS software though. That sucks that it didn't work for you. |

But CJ, the girl in the middle of that thumbnail picture is my wife's hiking friend's daughter. So for that reason, we will probably watch. I heard some behind the scenes drama that sounds interesting. |

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
There is a deal through Cox Cable right now to add HBO Max for $5/mo for 12 months. I have always gotten HBO Max separately, but for the next year I am more than happy to add it to my massive cable and internet bill at that price.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
Eh, it’s 1.5 months. Sure it would have been nice to keep like current. No biggie.
|
Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
We knew it wouldn’t last, and it was only promised for 2021. I am happy we got what we got.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
I just want Dune.

^ we’re getting right? Fall?

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
With the Crunchyroll sale finally going through, I'd expect that whole section to drop off the face of the earth eventually. So if you haven't watched Jujutsu Kaisen or To Your Eternity, do it soonish.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
I did see both of those. Quite good.

Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
Since Sony doesn't have a streaming service, where do you think they would go?

Oh, okay. That makes sense. I had no idea that was a paid subscription service but I'm not into anime.

re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
HBO and HBO Max signed a two-year first-look deal with filmmaker Robert Rodríguez, founder of Troublemaker Studios. As part of the collaboration, Rodríguez will first bring projects to the cabler and streamer for potential development as original series. His son Racer Rodríguez will serve as lead development executive under the pact. Projects could potentially be completed at the studio’s production facilities in Austin, Texas. |
Re: HBO Max — Warnermedia streaming service
Sorry if I asked this before but can a friend use my HBO Max without giving them my credentials or anything?

You could log them in yourself on their device.
|
re: Max — Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service
You mean I’d have to be there? Can I just put in the code they get on screen and activate on my phone and will be auto logged in without my password or anything? Could have thought I did for dad…
