Here's a very long article that covers pretty much everything you need to know including device support. It looks like Roku and Amazon Fire devices don't have deals yet.

I'm reading a lot of threads on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere where the vast majority of people/posters think HBOMax is just some kind of HBO subscription with some old TV shows thrown in the mix. They really have no idea it's a Warner Bros. subscription service with exclusive shows and HBO added as a "perk." I think Warners is going to regret the name they chose for this. I thought so at the time (earlier in this thread) and it looks like it's coming true. I wonder if they'll rebrand it in a year or so.

Yeah I read comments on an HBO Max post on Facebook where some asked, "I have HBO Go or Now, why do I need this?" Seems like most don't get that this is a WB service with HBO included and has a much more expansive library. I had to explain to one person and then he finally understood what it was.

Yeah the "HBO" in the name will make this a hard sell to the wife.

Me: "Hey I'm going to subscribe to HBOMax"
Her: "...Why? We already have HBO GO..."
Me: "Yeah, but it's not just HBO. There is way more to it. And lots of my DC stuff will be there"
Her: "...But it says HBO in the name. And you already have DC Universe. There's your DC stuff there."
Me: Yeah but...
Her: "Yeah but nothing. You don't need HBOMax. And look! HBOMax costs almost $20 a month too?!?! REALLY??!!"
Me: "FUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKK!!!"

It's a $11.99 per month special until launch day.
Then it goes back up to $14.99

It says in the article I posted above, if you're paying for HBO Now (at $14.99), you might as well change to this service. You're going to pay the same price for much more content on this one.
Here's the excerpt on who can get it for free if you already have HBO:
Subscribers to HBO Now can upgrade to HBO Max free, and HBO subscribers via AT&T can get it free too (that is, HBO customers through DirecTV, U-verse, AT&T TV Now, AT&T TV and AT&T wireless users who can add HBO with certain unlimited plans). And through an April deal with Charter, all of Charter's existing HBO subscribers, including subscribers in its Spectrum Silver and Gold video packages, will automatically be given access to HBO Max for no additional charge.

Since it's coming up soon, are there details in how these grandfathered account get access? Like do we need to create a new login and link it or do we login via our att account?

Will there be a Criterion category on the service, or did someone just pick out the Criterion films among those listed?
On one hand it seems like a big number of Criterion titles to appear just by chance, but on the other I don't see what Criterion gets out of allowing HBO Max to designate a Criterion section of streaming that will directly compete with their streaming service.

So there will be a Criterion section? They should put Harold and Maude there.

My guess is that the movies that was shown on Criterion Channel was because of the licensing agreement that WB has with them and nothing to do with partnering up with Janus Films to have a tab in their service otherwise they would have made the announcement in a similar fashion like they did with Crunchyroll.
I’m not privy of the details of the licensing agreement with Criterion Channel but I hope it doesn’t hurt the rotating slates of titles from WB.

Just read over at Cord Cutter News that the A T & T TV app was added to the Roku Store so maybe there is hope that they have a deal coming with HBO Max.
No mention in the article about A T & T TV Now which has been a disaster with Roku devices since they pulled support earlier in the year.

More deals signed. Still no Roku or Amazon yet
I have an Apple TV, so I should be good next week as they were one of the first who signed on.
A week before the long-awaited launch of WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, the company has locked distribution deals with seven partners, ranging from small cable operators to major gaming and smart-TV platforms.
Altice USA, Cox Communications, Microsoft Xbox, Samsung, Sony PlayStation, Verizon and the National Cable Television Cooperative have all signed on to offer HBO Max starting May 27. They join Charter Communications, Hulu, YouTube TV, Apple TV and AT&T’s own outlets, including DirecTV, in offering the $15-a-month streaming service. Three notable holdouts, for now, are Comcast, Amazon and Roku.

Hmm... as someone who has a Fire Stick in the main room and a roku TV in the other, that's not good news. Is it going to be on Android TV (Shield)?

They are spending between $20 and 30M to finish work on it.
It will either be a 4+ hour movie or formatted as a miniseries.
