re: DC Universe streaming service

I kind of want to join this just for the opportunity to buy the exclusive DC Collectibles Justice League animated series figures.

Say what now? Where is that info? Are we talking the same scale as BTAS figures?

edited to add while watching the video:

Ok, watching the video, I guess it's somewhere in these 18 minutes? Or maybe not. But details in this link. If they want to expand that line, I can't see them keeping those characters as exclusives, maybe exclusive decos/packaging?

http://www.comicsbeat.com/justice-le...-collectibles/

Lots of footage of the cinematic universe at the start of the video. I guess that's the guy doing the video and not DC, because that stuff is not going to be included.

Seems odd that they're basically creating web content (articles, "old school" message board) in their paywalled content platform.

Dude sidestepped the Batman 50 question. What does that mean transact on that book if it's not on the platform? Like buy it via comixology or something? That rotating comic thing based on what's trending seems like crap, they better have at the very least complete runs or storylines and not just like individual joker issues or something. Also there's no way they're putting new comics up within like a couple of months of release.

I don't really get the draw of curating a favorites collection if not all of it is available on the app and stuff will rotate out. I get it if you want to save stuff to read later, but the selection is going to change constantly so not sure how much use that will be.

Game console apps not at launch.

re: DC Universe streaming service

I'm watching the video right now, the guy said at launch the service will be available on Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Android TV will be the OTT devices at launch. They will look at expanding to game consoles and more in 2019.

Not sure if it’s in that video or not. I saw it on a Facebook advertisement. Same scale as the other animated figures though yeah.

re: DC Universe streaming service

It's a long video (18 minutes)

I wish the demo would have been done full screen. The guy from DC was showing some guy the iPad interface on a table and it was very hard to see what he was showing.

He later went to a big screen TV and showed the Roku interface and it looked pretty good.

The website says you can purchase collectibles and the guy from DC says in the video says if let's say you wanted to purchase a digital copy of Batman #50, you can buy it on the app. At least that's what I got from what he said.

and yes they will curate a certain slate of digital comics and new content will be posted on a rotating basis.

He also said there will be a message board type section.

Is Android TV software or hardware?
My wife has Apple TV on her TV, but downstairs I use the Xbox or the TV itself or streaming. It's an LG so I doesn't have Android native, maybe it has it through its app store. Or maybe time to get a Roku, which I kinda hate to do, since i can watch everything else through the devices I already have.

And agreed - he should have captured the video directly or something, it was a little tough to get the full feel.

I think he mentioned TV apps, but didn't say what brand of tv. Android TV is an OS, I think, used in stuff like Nvidia Shield.

I think it means it will be available for digital purchase right on the app. But who knows? I agree new comics won't be up right away. My biggest concern about the comics is that they won't have complete arcs. You'll get wrapped up in a story and then - "Oh, want to see how it ends? You'll need to buy that one!"

I'm basically signing up for the movies and shows, so that won't bother me as much as many of you.

re: DC Universe streaming service

They've been very cagey on what exactly the digital comics option includes. I've seen numbers bandied about that mention 3500 digital comics available. That seems large but it's really just a fraction of DC's back catalog.

DC Daily News Show hosted by Kevin Smith to launch next week (August 29th)

Sounds like this is getting an early launch with this news show.

re: DC Universe streaming service

I finally pulled the trigger on the 15 month pre-order and set my Marvel Unlimited and Comixology Unlimited to lapse rather than renew. I hope it’s worth it.

Yeah I pulled the trigger and did the preorder. I figured I would get it anyway and keep it active, so why not? Did not realize they charged you all at once right away though.

re: DC Universe streaming service

I went for it.
Of course I saw something about "less than 5 dollars a month!"
74.99/15 = 4.9993 repeating.
That's about as little "less" as you can be while still being accurate.

re: DC Universe streaming service

Remember live stream of the 1st DC Daily show hosted by Kevin Smith tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT on their Facebook and YouTube page.

It will preview the new service and they will answer questions. I'm sure for those who can't watch it live, you can catch it on delay later in the day.

Anyone else get in on the beta? I signed up and got an email that says I was accepted into the beta. But nothing else. No links, no further emails, no access when I’m logged in in the sign-up site. In fact, since it has me logged in, it won’t even let me pay for the subscription plan, but just tells me to stay tuned.

DC Universe to launch September 15th

Titans to premiere October 12th

Titans will be posted weekly and will be a 12 episode season.

This is an unofficial source. They will probably confirm it later today in the live stream.

Smith just confirmed the service launches September 15th on Batman day.

Again if you’re not near YouTube or Facebook right now, you should be able to stream this later.

re: DC Universe streaming service

Titans premieres Friday October 12th. One episode per week.

If you pre-ordered the service ($75) they will send you a copy of Teen Titans Omnibus.

This is an awkwardly produced telecast. Apparently Smith isn’t being communicated to well by the Producers and the TelePrompter is fucking up.

re: DC Universe streaming service

Teri Hatcher actually appeared and talked about Lois and Clark.

They confirmed that all the old shows and animated shows will be remastered in HD.

They even said that all 9 seasons of the old classic Saturday morning Superfriends will be available at launch.

John Barrowman from the Arrowverse will be a contributor on the show along with several others.

re: DC Universe streaming service

2,500 comics will be available at launch from classics to newer ones.

You'll be able to purchase new comics from the service shortly after launch.

Lastly there will be a free trial for those who choose to go monthly to try it and see if you like it.

re: DC Universe streaming service

Wait, they're giving away the Wolfman/Perez NTT omnibus? Isn't that out of print? Plus I think the cover price is near the subscription price. If that's accurate, and it's not just say the first tpb or something, I might bite.

re: DC Universe streaming service

They were giving away subscriptions during the live show, and I believe the omnibuses were only a consolation prize if the winner had already pre-ordered the service. I don't believe that it will be for all subscribers.
