UHD on Vudu and itunes, it's on Prime Video too but I don't think they have 4k?

LionsGate so not MA compatible unfortunately.

The iTunes version has 2 commentary tracks that the Vudu version doesn't have.

But, both have the 2 hour making of documentary.

I got the iTunes version. I prefer to have my digital content as close to the physical disc as possible.

I’ve been wondering about that second commentary track. It Says in theater commentary. What is that?

It's a commentary he released as an audio file while the movie was still in theaters,so people could go watch it again, and play the commentary on their phone/audio player while watching.

Interesting. I didn't realize this was still - ever? - a thing. I remember when Kevin Smith recorded a Clerks 2 commentary to download and play on an iPod, but ultimately scrapped it because theaters objected. Knives Out is a much higher profile release than anything Smith puts out, so I guess they finally embraced that technology.

The article I linked to mentions that Rian Johnson did the same thing for Brothers Bloom and Looper. Brothers Bloom came out in 2008, 2 years after Clerks 2, so if by "finally," you mean "over a decade ago," then, yes, theaters seem fine with it.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Why the snark? The only time I'd ever heard of someone trying to do such a commentary was Smith for Clerks 2 and that resulted in a public brouhaha with the theaters. I'd never heard of an attempt since, so I figured it was a failed marketing angle never replicated. My bad.

Besides Johnson, has any other director/producer/star/whoever put out an in-theater commentary? I'm genuinely curious now.

According to Wikipedia, writer/director John August made one for The Nines with Ryan Reynolds.

Here’s a weird one, a free rental of the movie Axcellerator on the site RiffTrax. They’re former Mystery Science Theater 3000 cast, but they’re not making fun of this movie. It’s the newest movie by David Giancola, who directed Time Chasers.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

They've released "unriffed' movies before, although typically for purchase. There's a category on their site for them:
https://www.rifftrax.com/unriffed

Previously, in 2017, they released an unriffed version of the movie Replica, by the director of the movie Birdemic, a month before they released a riffed version.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

The R rated cut of Saturday Night Fever with iTunes Extras is only $5 on iTunes.

I might get this. I've never seen the R rated cut and currently don't own SNF on any form of physical media.

It's an R rated movie. Which version have you seen, the Unrated Director's Cut or the PG version that got a theatrical release to bring in more business in early 1978?

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

So I missed the 24 deal on Vudu for $30.

I did notice that it's still $30 on iTunes. After some hesitating and thinking, I decided to get it. Mainly because I only have seasons 1-6 on DVD. 7-9 I own on BD. So at least this gives me a good HD digital copy for those seasons. It also gives me an HD digital copy of 24: Redemption as well as I own that on DVD.

I know the entire series is on Hulu, but one day it probably won't be. So at least I have a perpetuity copy of my own.

It's still $30 on iTunes, but jumped back to $90 on Vudu.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Disney/Pixar's new film Onward is on sale for $12.99 at most streaming services.

Get it at Vudu for the UHD version. If you buy it at iTunes, they only have the HD version. It's MA, so it'll transfer to all the other services. And you'll get 200 Disney Insider points.

Credit goes to ProgKing on blu-ray.com for posting this.

Possible error on their part, but FandangoNow has the Journey to the Center of the Earth / Journey 2: The Mysterious Island double feature included as part of their $5 deals. Both movies are MA & ports over to the other etailers.

Hey, for $2.50 per movie, why not?

IP Man 4: The Finale is $9.99 on Vudu and on iTunes.

However, iTunes has the 4K version with extras. So I went ahead and got that version.

There is a 4K disc for it, but it's pretty expensive right now, so I opted for this instead.

Same extras as the disc version? I'm holding out for that.
