Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

The glory days of the Fanflix deals have passed. A lot of overrpriced movies now. They jacked up the prices on all the Christmas movies. Most are $6.99 or $7.99. I miss the 2 for $5 and 3 for $5 sales.

Apple TV has a daily Holiday Deal of the Day. Barbie 4K for $4.99 is today's deal.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Thanks I got Star Trek TOS Remastered. Great deal -- single seasons are $35 each on Fandango.
Weird that they sell both the original SD and the HDX Remastered versions separately. I can’t think of any other show (or movie even) where they offer both.

Yeah it's a steal if you don't already have it

Took me a minute to find the separate SD listings. Some purists may not want the remastered versions and they are giving you the option. If you have the remastered editions and force the Fandango at Home app to SD quality... I wonder if you end up with the non-remastered versions.

O damn, I caved a few years ago for TOS remastered at 29 bucks I think. Would have liked HD without upgraded effects, but whatcha gonna do

I still have my physical blurays that have both versions (and you can swap between them on the fly).

That's cool! I'd be too lazy probably to toggle, though.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Yeah, I’m sure the double release is for the nerds who don’t want the new effects.

I’ve considered TOS at 19.99 so 12.99 was an easy sell. But I do have BD and DVD sets so I’m sure this is my most-purchased series.

I mentioned earlier that Fanflix was using the new titles as clickbait, but I’m sure it’s also the studios saying “I’ll give you this sale if we can also let people know that Here is now available.”

I think the super cheap three-for-$5 was mostly Lionsgate-type stuff, and Warner for example rarely went below $5, but that Clint sale is ridiculous. Catalog titles for $7.99! They’re offering them but not interested in actually selling them.

FanFlix hasn't been so great lately. No more iTunes redemptions and their sales are at least $2-3 more than what they used to be. Even $5 at times.

Apple raised their rates for redemptions. I subscribe to a Patreon for a Podcast and they told everyone to make sure you're subscribed to Patreon via Patreon's website and not the Apple app. Apple starting charging a 30% Apple App store fee for subscriptions via the iOS app and Patreon was going to pass on the charges to people subscribed via the Apple Patreon app. No extra fees if you subscribed through Patreon's website. I believe even the new Paramount disc releases only let you redeem your codes via Fandango At Home now. It's cheaper for companies to redeem via Fandango at Home.

FWIW, my new Galaxy Quest 4K this week gave me an iTunes option on the digital code.

That's a good sign. Major League was Fandango at Home only.

I subscribe to 2 Patreons and I know the first one (and account setup) was done via the web and not the app. I don't recall the second one but probably right thru the app. Apple was even threatening Patreon with app store de-listing over all this.

I prefer iTunes or MA redemption whenever possible... I even skip $4.99 titles on FaH waiting for the title to drop at some point on iTunes. I'll have to keep an eye out on Paramount titles if they don't have iTunes redemptions (like A24 doesn't anymore).

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Apple TV's newest Holiday Deal of the Day is Modern Family The Complete Series for $49.99. That's the lowest it's ever been, but I don't think it's much of a deal.

It's not. I bought it for the same price earlier this year - although it may have been one of those "blink and you miss it" incorrect prices.

Seems like the lowest price before this was 60 bucks... you sure you got it at 50?

Anyway 250 episodes so 20 cents an episode is pretty good, it just pales in comparison to some of the other deep discounted shows we've been accustomed to.

I looked at price trackers and $49.99 is the lowest it's been on Apple and Fandango at Home.

I think I got the Complete Series on YouTube for like $10. Great deal, but I don't own anything else on that service. Super inconvenient. Still I am not re-buying it.

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

I picked up BBT a couple years back when it was that price. All these series on Apple TV reminds me of the one issue I have with TV series on Apple TV... Complete series purchases don't unlock the individual seasons. So if you want to watch S9 E12 of a show, you have to scroll thru from S1E1 to find it. Unless someone else has a quicker way?
