Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
That's a helpful thread. Thanks.
To answer my question: Some new movies and a small handful of TV seasons have been added. It's not dead yet. |
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

Sure would love to see a lists of blu-rays you scan it. You said you did something like 660 & I bet that was when it only cost $1.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Just checked the Forever Marilyn Blu-ray set (7 Movies).
Recognized: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - (MA) River of No Return - (MA) There's No Business Like Show Business - (MA) The Seven Year Itch - (MA) Not Recognized: How to Marry a Millionaire - (MA) Some Like It Hot The Misfits |
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
The Mission was recognized, but it only offered me an SD version (for $2) because that's all they have on site. I skipped it.

I might just go that route because the price will be close if I use a coupon, and it won't affect my 100 cap. When I saw the sale bundle, I remembered I had the BD bundle and realized I hadn't tried it during my end-of-year converting spree because I still have it shrink-wrapped and stored in a different spot from my other BDs. I probably would've done that at the time, especially because I didn't know this sale was coming. |
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Just open my Monsters The Essential Collection UK Box set. None of the 8 Blu-ray movies were recognized.
|
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Yeah, I got that UK Monsters set several years ago and have tried to do those over the years, but no luck. Same with the UK Hitchcock Ultimate set. Shame since the UK Bourne set discs were accepted.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
I have a couple of questions. Firstly, do you actually download a file of the movie or is it simply access to the movie streaming through a library?
Secondly, what is to stop someone going into a store and scanning a UPC code from a movie box? Seems like an easy way to get a movie for $2 that you don't actually own. |

You can't go into a store and scan the UPC code. The Vudu app uses your phone's GPS to find your location. You have to be at the address listed on your Vudu billing records. So you can only scan UPC codes when the GPS can verify you are at your own home. |

Disc to Digital is just like buying a movie at Vudu. They let you buy it at a discounted price because you already own it on disc. Once you buy it, you stream it on their service. There's no need to download/upload any files.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Well I did a 30 second search on Google and found lots of sites that have UPC codes ready to scan online. Seems a flawed system if you ask me.
Well I started ripping my blu rays to go on my Shield, but I have a feeling its gonna be a lot of trial and error to get file sizes down to something reasonable using Handbrake. |

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Seen this over at BR .com.
True Lies is now mobile 2 digital. No blu-ray, so a $5 dvd conversion to get HDX. Currently, you can't even buy it. It has been pulled (hidden unless you owned it) and come back. Also, NOT MA. (I don't know why since it's FOX) |
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
And now, Star Wars: A New Hope is available mobile 2 digital.
|
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Wow, that's a big one.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
I did my first Disc to Digital conversion today. The app won't recognize my location unless I go in the backyard and scan discs. I got digital copies of some blu-ray discs that didn't come with codes: Superbad, Julie and Julia, and Risky Business. I tried to scan Easy A and it couldn't read the barcode.
|
Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
Also added yesterday: The Abyss Theatrical & Special Edition are mobile 2 Digital, but both are ONLY IN SD currently.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread
I converted a couple more discs today. It's weird that the app doesn't work inside the house, but it works fine out by the pool....
