I've never attempted really. I doubt it'll be $1 per disc on those. But give it a shot and report back to us.

TV Shows are not eligible for D2D. Only movies.

I have worked in a competitive retail market for 10 years, and Walmart have bar none the worst customer service I have ever seen, and Vudu's is barely better. I went to 6 Walmarts, don't see them reimbursing me for the gas, two couldn't do D2D, two couldn't even though I'd called ahead they'd told me they could, and the other two converted my discs and deleted my D2D queue TWICE, including some stuff I sold and no longer fucking own.

I'm surprised you found 4 out of 6 Walmarts that knew what D2D was, and 2 out of 6 that could actually do it.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

Well last night, I actually went to a wally to attempt my first disc to digital on 10 discs that just wouldn't be recognized by the program (and there wasn't a free2d equivalent either). I had the discs with me, I had my list on vudu to just those 10, everything they recommend pretty much.

I made my way to the photo center and there was nobody around. Finally find somebody over in electronics, he has no clue whatsoever. An assistant manager shows up around this time and says the photo guy is on break, come back in 15 minutes. So I go to Subway inside the Wally, eat my dinner (I'm in another state on business) and go back in actually thirty minutes there. Finally, they page the guy since they recognized I was back.

After about another 10 minutes, the guy finally shows up and I keep trying to be nice and hand him some instructions I found on Free2d. He stares at them, goes to the back PC and tries for about 10-15 minutes to get it going (he had never done it obviously). Then he starts looking through binders underneath the counter. Finally found one with the instructions. He goes back to the PC....asks for my email and phone...give it to him. Doesn't work, I tell him back out the phone number and try just the email. Works.

Then we go through the process of verifying my disks (no biggie, I was organized). He clicks, gets the barcode, checks me out, I pay. He hands me the barcode just in case and as I'm walking out the store, I'm refreshing Vudu. On the third try, the ten titles show up. Hallelujah. The guy was nice despite taking a very long break, and I do think my patience and organization was helpful.

Needless to say its a rough process and I hope that the guy (his name was Brent and he works at the Wally in Baton Rouge on Burbank) actually learned something new today, so maybe the next person who shows up will be a lot quicker.

Getting a blu ray drive is way easier. No way in hell would I go to Wal-Mart, especially with the sole purpose of using this service in-store.

Lots of Blu-rays don't work even at home.

I called ahead to two of them to specifically ask if they could. They said yes. They couldn't. I've sent complaint to Vudu and they're "Yeah, sorry." I've sent two complains to Walmart's corporate offices, but I don't see them answering before hell freezes over.

Of course not I never said a drive at home would make all discs work, but Wally World doesn't have any special equipment to make those discs that don't work magically work either. And again, I'd rather never step into one if I can help it.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

Well, Wally doesn't need any special equipment because all they do is click your titles into the basket after it's verified.

But with all these issues is why I do use Free2d, not because I'm trying to cheat the system (I'm really not, I've only used it for discs I actually own) but because they basically already figured all of the grunt work. Without it, I would have probably converted maybe 1/4 of the discs I wanted to.

It makes life a ton easier, especially for those of us who keep their discs away from their day to day lives (Upstairs for me in the "ManCave") and don't want to run up and down stairs every time they want to convert a batch of discs.

Plus, the 50% discount is only available using the software, not in-store. You should only use in-store for discs that can't be recognized by the software.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

If I convert a Blu-ray disc to digital, would I also get the SD version if I purchase the HDX version?

Edit: Just want to confirm that you do receive the HD and SD versions.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

I saw people commenting on Google+ that they are going to buy vudu credits. Is it cheaper to buy credits somewhere or something? I thought you could just use a credit card?

There are a lot of places that give out promotional credit to Vudu. There were $5 Vudu Credits on Wal-Mart's take & bake pizzas, Kleenex boxes and video game pre-orders. Lately, T-Mobile has been giving customers a $5.50 Vudu Credit each Tuesday. And I got a $20 Vudu Credit that came with my new TV.

Anyways, people often sell these Vudu Credits for around 50%-60% of face value. So you can buy $5 in Vudu Credit for around $2.50.

Re: The "Official" Disc to Digital Discussion Thread

Yup, everything I buy on VUDU (including D2D) is using VUDU credits that I've obtained for about 50-60% of face value.

This is a good place to start:

https://plus.google.com/communities/...08571694253227

Especially the community docs like the FAQ and the Credit Matrix. You need to be especially cognizant of credit expiration dates. I lost something like $25 in credits when I started out, because I didn't realize that promotional credits expired after a while if not used.

The weekly $5.50 T-Mobile credits are a good deal, because people are usually selling them for about $2 by the end of the day on Tuesday.

It will stream at the highest resolution supported by your playback device and internet connection, up to the resolution you purchased (i.e. SD, HDX, or UHD). For example, most movies played in your browser are limited to SD resolution. So, if you purchase a movie in HDX, but play it in your browser, it will stream at SD. If, however, you stream that movie on, say, a Roku, connected to your TV, it will stream at HDX. But if your Internet connection is too slow, it might fall back to HD (720p) or SD resolutions.

Sounds like an Adobe Air issue. It's happened before. You can try contacting them about it, but I doubt they'll do anything. You'll just have to wait for them to do another update.

It's not just you. I'm having the same problem, and so are other people. There are posts about it on other forums. Here's one from the Official Vudu Support Forum:

https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...l-is-blank-now

It seems to be account related. It's occurring on both my desktop and laptop. Each are running different OS, and different versions of Vudu2go and Adobe Air.

Anyways, it sounds like Vudu is aware of the issue and doesn't have a fix yet. Although they haven't made any official announcement.
