I had been subscribing for the last couple of Octobers. Does the video quality still only go as high as 720p and the audio no better than stereo (even for new releases)? Or did they finally upgrade things?

It is still stereo, not sure on the video since my Apple TV outputs as 4K and only switches for HDR/Dolby Vision content.

Does AMC + have a live Shudder channel?

I just went on AMC+ and there were 6 live channels. None of them were named but 3 of them were playing horror titles at this moment.

That was an interesting article, but I wished they had at least discussed a possible 4K upgrade and Atmos or 5.1 at minimum for the service. It feels like the dark ages there at times.

I’m absolutely fine with them not providing 4K and stuff to keep the current, super-reasonable price point.

But if they offered it, like Netflix, the price is only changed for those wanting it and not everyone. At least that's the theory.

All I want is surround sound. It is not expensive to stream that since a majority of the titles already have surround soundmixes.

Creepshow airs on AMC with Dolby 5.1, its not fair that the full cut of Anna and the Apocalypse is finally viewable in the US but without the lively 5.1 soundmix,
and even the new movies should have it.

She's been promoting the film a lot on her socials even though she's not the main star. Her and the director did a blu-ray release signing at Dark Delicacies in L.A. Hope to meet her one day. Missed her when she showed up for a showing at a local theater.

I believe she's also a producer, so she would have a more vested interest in the film doing well than a regular actor.

I enjoy Joe Bob's trivia and enthusiasm but what is the use of the chick he has with him, the "mail lady" (I think her name is Darcy)?

She adds nothing to his shows. I know she hasn't always been with him. Is she his girlfriend, because if not, she is as worthless as tits on a bull.

SunMonkey 02-03-24 11:59 AM

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

It makes me believe you have barely watched The Last Drive-In to claim Darcy adds nothing to the show. -rolleyes-

Spiderbite 02-03-24 07:10 PM

Re: Shudder - AMC's streaming service for Horror fans

That must be the case. I have watched only 4 recent movies (episodes?) and she has added nothing. How many do I need to watch and how far do I need to go back to see when she is useful?

It sounds like Shudder TV is now on AMC+. I'm wondering if that means if people only want Joe Bob, then there's no need for the standalone Shudder app?

I noticed that today when I jumped on there to see that "Late Night With the Devil" is now on the service. Yeah, I guess there's still two separate memberships. If you have AMC+ you get Shudder, but if you have Shudder, you don't get AMC+. Shudder IS slightly cheaper, but not significantly ($6.99 a month/$71.88 a year vs. AMC's $8.99 a month/$83.88 per year).
