Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
I have Hulu bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+ into my Verizon phone plan. I watched the newest Daredevil on Disney - no commercials. That was an unexpected surprise.
My god - the commercial load on Hulu is simply terrible. It's like every 8 or so minutes. I tend to avoid Hulu, but just wrapping up Handmaids Tale. |

Disney is now the full owner of Hulu. They bought Comcast NBC Universal out. It would not surprise at all if all the remaining NBC content eventually gets dropped and segues fully to Peacock. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
I haven't been paying much attention to my streaming subscriptions lately. But last night I noticed that my Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle was almost the same price as the Hulu/Disney+/MAX bundle ($27 vs $30). Since I don't use ESPN+, it was a no-brainer to switch over to the MAX bundle and cancel my stand-alone MAX subscription ($17).

The standalone Hulu app will be phased out. It will be a channel on the new Disney+ But, it sounds like you still need a separate subscription for it's content. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Live is moving to Fubo? Maybe I should start looking into swapping to YTTV.
|
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Hopefully the new Disney+ app is better designed. It's a freaking mess now.
|
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Hulu is kind of a mess now too, mainly because they have so much content added on a regular basis and it's really hard (unless I'm missing something) to see everything new.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
They haven’t required separate subscriptions for the “adult” stuff in the rest of the world. Even through Disney, the Hulu content in the US is lower quality (no Atmos) than the same content everywhere else (have VPN, will travel!)

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Has anyone tried the getting no ads with Hulu since has the Disney Bundle with Verizon now that they have integrated?
I want Hulu ad free, especially for the month of October, but various googling tells me that the bundle through Verizon is old, and I am scared to fuck with it and lose my free Disney + subscription with them. |

I pay Hulu directly for the upgrade to ad free since I get the V D+ bundle. But I have been doing that for years. I don't know if it would mess with anything if you did it now.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Have the Verizon Bundle and been doing ad free with direct with HULU as well by paying the $5/month.

Hulu along with Disney+ is getting yet another price bump

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
My annual love/hate relationship with Hulu. I love the product (will never go back to cable tv or switch to YouTube tv), but of course we all hate price increases.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Hulu is having some issues - my ad free and HBO add-on have both dropped off my account. I tried watching something this weekend and I had ads, I then switched over to watch HBO and it stated I had no account. Went to Hulu account and it only showed ad-level account. Called and they stated it is an ongoing issue they are working on.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
This must still be an ongoing problem... watched Hulu two nights ago, no ads. Watched last night, ads. I thought my subscription changed thru Verizon.

Word of caution though. Hulu states it's Verizon not allowing split billing while Verizon states it's Hulu getting ready for merging Hulu into D+. So we all may have to put up with ads till later this year or cancel with Verizon and go directly with D+ bundle. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
This sounds more like it's Verizon's policy change to force more people off the legacy plan.
I just logged into my Hulu account and it still shows the premium plan for $5.00 and getting billed tomorrow. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...0259472ca4.jpg Maybe the way I did the upgrade several years ago isn't affected... yet. |
Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
I started getting ads this month, yet Hulu still charged me on April 1. I had to reach out to them and cancel, as even the option to cancel (and the subscription itself) was no longer appearing on my Hulu account. Thankfully, the Hulu agent I chatted with seemed to understand this issue. They canceled my recurring payment and refunded me the $5.30 (including the tax) they charged me in April.

Re: Hulu -- News and Notable New additions
Issue is even if you change your Verizon plan they no longer offer ad free upgrade either. As of now the only way for ad free is direct with Disney/Hulu. Yet depending on how you are paying etc it likely will be more no matter how it's bundled.
