Which version of the Roku? I'm on a Roku 3 and Hulu is very obviously HD.

Unless you want to check out films in the Criterion Collection catalog or specifically want to watch current show Hulu seems like a waste.

Hulu is for cable cutters mostly, it's a subscription version of On Demand.. I use them a lot though, so I can't complain.

Roku XM? I think its the roku 2 that was previously $100 before the most recent one came out.

Like I mentioned, NFS and Amazon HD looks great, Hulu+ not so much.

If they pay me $38.99, I'll reactivate Hulu Plus

lol goddamn when did Hulu non-plus up their ad count so high? On Plus it's still 3 per commercial break, I just tried last nights Community on non-plus and it was 5 ads per break.

Even on plus it can be unbearable. I guess it depends on the show? Arrow has two ads each time but Dancing with the Stars has four!

It's too bad they don't offer a Premium membership. I'd pay 2-3 times the current rate if I could watch their entire catalog without commercials. But in it's current state, I don't subscribe.
What does that mean? You have to watch them on a pc? Why would they do that?

It's a rights issue with the rights holder. Some of these companies are simply idiotic, WB appears to be a big offender.

I've heard that WB compresses the hell out of their DCPs too, apparently there's some sort of weird management at the top of the tree there, they make all kinds of bizarre choices.

I assume it's the same person that figured Warner Archives would be more successful than licensing their content out?

Does Hulu Plus have timeouts so you can't watch shows consectively?

I've only used the non-plus on my PC, but no. On prior seasons, you can watch all you want. On current season, they generally post new episode the day after broadcast, but they only carry the last 4-5, so you can't get too far behind.

It does occasionally check in with "Are you still watching?" after about 4 episodes, not unlike Netflix.

Re: Netflix vs. Hulu Plus vs. Amazon Prime

I'm new to Hulu plus and can't figure it out. With netflix I pick out a series I wan't to watch and it puts it in my watch list. When I click on it it brings up all the seasons in order and keeps track where I am.
With Hulu, sometimes it gives me a button to add to my queue, other times there is just an add to favorites button? Then when I click on a series in my queue instead of bring up the entire series for me it will bring a season or 2 sometimes just an episode or 2? Am I doing something wrong? Why can't they keep it simple like Netfix and amazon?

Hulu works with newer shows (episodes that just aired last night, or a week ago) unlike Netflix or Amazon. As such they don't have massive libraries of older material, it's more like having a DVR. So they only have a the latest season or two of many shows.

Don't know what the deal w/ the queues / playlists are, I use Hulu to watch whatever aired earlier in the week and that's it. I use Netflix for everything else.
