Yeah, at the time they had no commercial offering so it made sense. Now that they've seen it's a success (or that people didn't leave in droves) makes sense not to run both services and get everyone on one. I do wonder if it means they'll up the commercials on Prime now, because I swear Freevee had a lot more.

Yeah, it's "great" it's combined now. I never watched anything on there. But, now it's the same because you have to pay extra to remove commercials. So, I'm still not watching their TV shows as much. I'll do movies if the commercials are upfront so I can just mute them until the movie starts. I'd like to watch the Leverage spinoff at some point.
Hopefully this will mean MGM+ will follow soon too. And, while I'm wishing in one hand... add MGM to Movies Anywhere too.

I was ready to cancel Prime when my renewal came up, but my wife said to keep it. We have Walmart+ with local delivery now and that has been working well so far.

I used all my credits (got the $3 email one too) and got Deadpool & Wolverine 4k. Now

Only thing I watch on Freevee is All in the Family as it's the only place that has it.

Pluto TV has seasons 3 & 4 of All in the Family, and only those seasons, for some reason:
https://pluto.tv/us/search/details/s...d869a/season/3

One thing I didn't like about Freevee in Prime video was that even though everything else was ad-free, I'd still see ads in the FreeVee content. If this shift means that you can get them ad-free by paying the extra $3/month, that may be nice, but I'm guessing not.

Even though Bosch Legacy is ad supported and a great series, there was someone here who refused to watch it because it had commercials.

Oh yeah, that's another one I'd like to watch since I binged the OG series. Never watched the original series when they first dropped.

Yeah and you can only buy the first 4 seasons on iTunes, not the rest. Freevee/Pluto and Apple are the only places you can get the show (according to JustWatch). I'm sure we won't be that lucky to get rid of the ads but I am also not paying Amazon for ad free either.

Lionsgate movies will start appearing on Amazon next year after the STARZ window.

TomOpus 01-30-25 09:49 AM

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

If I read that correctly:

Starz has first exclusive window (for how long?)

Starting in 2026 Prime then gets an exclusive window after the Starz window is over.

Thanks for the heads up. Found the Dove commercial last night and got the credit.

Twisters is now on Prime Video in case you didn't have Peacock and still haven't seen it yet.

This is on Amazon Firestick. idk, but there's only a couple options for the screensavers on there. It's not the photo stream. Skyline sounds like Roku.

Yeah Roku, getting my streams crossed.

Maybe I have screensaver turned off on my Firestick

Peacock was just added as an Amazon Prime channel you can purchase.

$16.99/month and a 7 day free trial.

The only real advantage of using Amazon channels is if you just want one giant bill for everything and only one place to find everything.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

Found an Exxon/Mobil ad for $3 prime video credit.
It's the ad with Blade Runner, not the plain one.
This was on the main home screen on the banners across the top.

I had a problem with this one.
Spoiler:
My wife wants to paint a room, so I turned on the fire stick that hadn't been on for a few months. As I was updating the new wifi password, the firestick was incredibly slow. Once the home screen came up, the very first banner was this ad. I clicked learn more, then my fire stick died. I couldn't get it back on. Tried unplugging it, tried the remote reset and nothing was working. Moved to my main tv/power cord/hdmi and still nothing.

I tried to get the ad on my main one several times and reset Ad identifier, and could only get the plain Exxon/Mobil ad.
Finally tried a 3rd stick (that's been off for a month) and it was the first ad.

I like them for those free trials. The next time Peacock has a few seasons of shows I want to watch, I’ll do it on the trial and then cancel.

Amazon streaming is getting pretty useless to me. They've started extremely intrusive ads lasting 2:30 minutes all through everything I've tried to watch recently. The commercials are essentially the same as you would see on network TV. It's really, really bad. My remote sound button is getting a big workout.

I mean if you don’t want Ads, you can always pay the extra $3 per month.

Not worth it to me. It just eliminates one of the perks you expected when you signed up for Prime.

^And it's infuriating that they can change the perk, when you've already paid for it.

I canceled my Prime Membership recently. I was barely watching anything on Prime Video and I avoid ordering things from Amazon as much as possible these days. Amazon as a store is one of the most significant instances of platform decay (or if you prefer, enshittification) of anything on the internet and I don't really want to give it my support anymore.
