The second half of season one of The Tick released today.

Amazon Prime added a few seasons of CHiPS and Dukes of Hazzard. I hope this leads to more 70s and 80s shows.

Just noticed that. I watched about half the series on the mammoth coffin DVD set, but sold it a while back. This will be much easier to finish

HBO will pull their content from Amazon Prime mid-2018, when their current deal expires.

Has anyone seen the actual date on this yet? I'm trying to squeeze in a few series I never watched when I had a regular HBO subscription.
Just finished Curb Your Enthusiasm S1-8.

Looking to do either 6 Feet Under and/or Entourage next.

On a sidenote, the Prime streaming app on Roku changed the other day. The menu is at the top now, nothing on the side. Icons are smaller, but seems OK so far.

Amazon Prime Video picked up the exclusive streaming rights to House, Friday Night Lights and Eureka.

They also picked up Parks and Recreation, but that is also streaming on Netflix and Hulu.

There's some discussion going around about Amazon dropping their bitrate.

https://www.reddit.com/r/television/..._to_crap_this/

If this is true, it's a shame. Amazon had some of the best looking HD video streams.

That does suck. FWIW, I just watched the first 3 episodes of Picnic at Hanging Rock, it looked damn good. Been a while since I streamed from them, but I don't recall seeing any noticeable differences when I watched these recent episodes.

I wonder if this is related to the problem I've been having with Amazon rebuffering a lot when I stream recently. Other apps haven't really been doing that, just Amazon. Maybe I'm not the only one having that problem, and this is an effort to fix it?

This looks to be fixed. Now whether it was an error on Amazon's part or they backed off the changes due to the complaints... still no official word from Amazon. -screwy-

This is on Starz?

Amazon Prime Studios miniseries. Full series is coming May 25th. I'm part of Amazon Preview group, so we get sneak peeks and surveys of shows coming out. I was able to see 3 of the 6 episodes. Very good show so far.

Yeah I confused this show with the one on Stars, Howard’s End.

I've seen people in a couple places claim that the older bitrates are back. Last night I watched a movie on Amazon, and it seemed fine to me.

Here's an update to an article on TorrentFreak:

Update April 20: Still no response from Amazon’s PR department but our source reports that changes have been made since the article was published yesterday. Here’s his report from this morning.

“As I understand, there are often multiple encodes of the same show depending on which site it is being served from. Primevideo and Amazon could be considered as two separate streaming sites, as the files they serve tend to differ a tiny amount. Often it’s not an obvious difference, but the with the change over this last week, the differences were more pronounced.

Amazon appear to assign a version or profile to the published encode being served to the end user. The past seven days, this value has changed for newer streams compared to the older streams. As of a few hours ago, the profile assigned to streams released in the past week now returns the same value as the older streams. This is also reflected in the overall size of the files.

There is still a chance Amazon will do further changes and manipulate the bitrate further, but for the moment, quality has been restored.”

Hmmm, I don't order as much as I used to and don't watch Prime video as often, so I'll have to think about this. My membership doesn't renew until November so I have time to think if it's still worth it for me.

Since I live in HI it's not worth the $99 & now $119. I don't use there video & music service & their 1-2 day shipping does not apply to us that live in HI. As well as a lot of other perks they have. The only benefit is not having but $25 of stuff to get free shipping. I did not renew Prime when it ended in Nov.

Those are some of the perks I was talking about.

My account still reads: "Next payment: On August 6th, 2018, you will be charged $99 for a year of Prime."

Not sure if we're "grandfathered" in for another year, or if this page will change soon, but right now it appears my rate is not changing.

I'm getting the same thing. I'm guessing that it'll change once the new prices take effect. My only other thought was that due to shipping screwups (this past year they missed their delivery guarantees quite often with me) my initial renew date would have been before the change, but the free months added dragged it past the june 16th line.

Re: The Amazon Prime Streaming Thread

To me, what is more of a kick-in-the-pants than the price increase is that it seems that this increase is already out in the media, etc, yet I, a longtime Prime subscriber, has still yet to be informed of this from Amazon directly. You'd think if they knew about this already they would have sent an email out.
