Don't forget that the current half-price sale at Vudu for batch conversions of 10 or more disks is coming to an end. Until August 31st, it's still only $1 for a straight conversion (DVD -> SD, or BluRay -> HDX) and $2.50 for an upgrade conversion (DVD -> HDX)... if you convert 10 or more titles at the same time.

As of September 1st, prices return to the regular $2 and $5 points. Time to make a final push.

Beauty & The Beast: Season 1 is on sale for $9.99 (HDX). Excellent price. This is only getting a DVD release, and it won't be out until October.

Elementary: Season 1 is on sale for $24.99 (HDX). That's a decent price considering this is a DVD-only release, and it's currently $28 at Amazon.

Today is the final day for half-priced "batch" home conversions to Vudu. Unless an extension is (or has been) announced, prices revert to $2 for straight conversions and $5 for upgrades from DVD to HDX.

(*) I could never get the HD2D s/w to recognize my version of Groundhog Day, but the standard DVD version from the public library scanned fine. Wouldn't normally use a library copy to activate a D2D title, but since I *do* own the title already I can justify it to myself that I'm not stealing. :)

(**) The disk I scanned was Soylent Green. Apparently Vudu has their Charlton Heston apocalypse movies all mixed up. I let them know that the title SHOULD have been Soylent Green - I don't really mind having Omega Man in its place. If Vudu swaps that out for SG, or leaves it alone, or just comps me by adding SG to my account, I'll be happy.

Hi all! I was over at the VUDU forums and folks there were reporting that a bunch of Fox titles had been added, including some corrections like A-Team Unrated and Mirrors Unrated now showing up correctly.

The big news tho, is that someone converted True Lies dvd to HDX, he said it was OAR 5.1, etc. He noted that it doesn't show up in their catalog, but it showed up when he converted the dvd. I wish I still had my dvd...:(

God, I hate supporting anything connected to Walmart, but as far as streaming goes, this looks like the best deal out there. I tried to put one of my BRs into it today, by my computer only has a DVD-ROM drive. Not only did it not convert he disc, it actually froze my computer took several hard reboots to get it working again. Probably a problem with my computer rather than the service, but disconcerting anyway. Apparently this links up with Flixster and Ultraviolet, which is cool since that's one of the few apps that the otherwise worthless wifi at my workplace doesn't block, not yet anyway. I'd imagine they have a few things you can't get on disc as yet. I'm going to hang onto physical media like a madman, but it sounds like these guys are the way of the future.

Breaking Away is one of the titles that just got added to D2D. Hoosiers will be a long wait because it's MGM and none of their titles are Ultraviolet.

As I spent 16 years in Catholic school and have a raging guilt complex, plus my aversion to sorely digital copies, I wouldn't do this, but what's to stop someone from just picking up a DVD or Blu-Ray from their local library or borrowing it from a friend and then using Vudu to convert it to HDX? Hell, what's to stop some guy from buying a movie, redeeming the digital code, and then giving it to someone else? I can't help but think it sounds a bit dubious, and I'd have to imagine it'd make studios wary.

Im guessing the logic is "$2 (or $5) is better than none" If someone who would pirate a copy pays $2-5 dollars instead, I'm sure the studios see it as a win.

Now that True Lies has been added, I'll be tracking down a used DVD copy. I'm sick of waiting on a BD release so I'm going the HDX route.

Also, Step Brothers was previously SD only. They recently upgraded it to HDX. Still waiting on HDX versions of Superman: The Movie, Hollow Man, and the original Karate Kid.
