A laptop? What model?

There's USB 3.0 to HDMI "adapters" that are basically tiny USB video cards for driving an external monitor:

No, it's a desktop with 2.0 USBs.

You have to have digital display interfaces that support HDCP (copy-protection).

The only way for HDX is to get a new video card for your computer.

Another possibility though is to buy something like the VUDU Spark. It's a little thumb device that plugs directly into the HDMI port on your monitor, and provides a simple interface to stream VUDU content from your account. It looks like Walmart isn't selling them anymore, but you can still find them for cheap on places like eBay and Amazon, like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/291786584381

If you have a Blu-ray player, it may already have a VUDU app.

If you have a PlayStation or XBox, they already have VUDU support.

Other cheap possibilities include devices like a Chromecast, Roku Streaming Stick, or Roku.

All of these options are probably a better, more convenient option than trying to get your computer hooked up.

VUDU being owned by Walmart doesn't necessarily make it safe. There's the aforementioned Walmart digital music shutdown. As well, consider the fact that Target Ticket shut down, the Barnes & Noble-backed NOOK shut down, and Best Buy-owned CinemaNow was sold to Reliance Majestic Holdings and then to FilmOn TV.
Well just about every major US studio still supports UV. So as long as that's done, then there will be a service out there to provide UV content.

Without Vudu, UV is basically worthless. FandangoNow sucks. They have a much smaller library than Vudu. And everytime I watch something, I have buffering problems. Plus, there's no way to organize/sort your collection. It's just a wall of titles. When your library reaches 1000+ movies, you realize how important that is.

CinemaNow is even worse. They can't even load my UV library. Apparently, they have problems with large collections.

I agree. Vudu is just a small piece of a much larger business. A couple under-performing quarters, and they might decide to cut their loses.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

I have a PlayStation 3 with VUDU, but I received this sweet new monitor and I was hoping to see how 1080p would look on it, but the highest I could go is 1280 x 1024 with the VGA cable. It's not a big deal.

Like I said before, I also worry about Vudu going out of business. I don't want to waste my money transferring my Blu-rays to my account, or buying codes.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Would be nice if that happened- then someone else would take it over and we'd get the porn back!

I believe there are HDMI to VGA cables. I don't know if that works in your situation.

Anyone know why I would show 200+ more titles in my UV library than Vudu?

I think it counts each individual TV season's episode as a "title".

It's show up at least 4 times so far. It seems to be almost every other week.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Good to know, I'll use it every time I can get it. The Tarantino Collection is $14.99, so I don't mind spending $10 and change for that. That's as much as I'll spend for that.

The Others is finally available for purchase. That's been stuck in my wishlist for a long time. It's $11.99 HDX. I used my T-Mobile credit.

Cool. Looks like the own price is now $9.99. I may get that the next time T-Mobile has another credit.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

a lot of the Hellraiser movies are $5.99. Not 1 and 2, but the rest.

part 3 is my favorite so it was a no brainer.
