Supposedly...(now I've never tried it), if you return your copy to a Walmart and it gets logged correctly, your free digital/instawatch copy is supposed to be removed from your account. I thought about doing this with my copy of Knock Knock which I watched on digital prior to opening it. The movie was horrible but then I read online about this same scenario. Decided against it and put it up for what I paid for it on Half.com. Sold in about a week, so that was that and if I need to revisit that horrible piece of filmmaking, I can.

Nope, you can't return the disc if you already viewed the digital version.

I have read on other message boards, like avsforum, that WB titles redeemed through Flixster linked with your VUDU account will allow you to watch movies on VUDU in UHD. I just recently bought the Samsung U8500 UHD Blu-ray player when my tv got the firmware for HDR-10, but I haven't bought any WB movies yet. Will probably try this with Watchmen if it goes down a bit in price or there's a decent sale like Best Buy has this week (already did this week's with Ghostbusters 1/2, Star Trek/Into Darkness, and The Martian).

Hmm, thanks. I'll definitely look into that. A few weeks ago it was that Flixster would redeem in UHD but only in HDX on Vudu for the Warner's movies. Hopefully that has changed.

It could be just for certain movies too, and I would probably do some investigating of recent redemptions working. I would fee bad if I steered anyone in the wrong direction. Is there a way to know if your code will be good for UHD before you actually redeem it, like a confirmation screen?

No, I don't think so. So far I'm up to 6 UHD titles, but haven't redeemed any of them yet until there's some kind of confirmation.

Why are some movies available on Vudu and not others? Is it simply rights issues?

Wondering because The Hitcher with C. Thomas Howell is not available, but something like his Soul Man is. Just curious...

Yeah, rights issues mostly. I don't think they do it by actor, as much as we would love some C Thomas Howell. I'm still waiting for studios like MGM to start allowing digital copies. I guess they're the last studio to not jump into it.

There's only a couple of extras on the disc. And the way Vudu is going, those extras will be added to the digital at some point. I'll probably still buy the disc when it comes out.
