The writing has been on the wall for D2D for some time. The service is losing more movies than are being added.

Obviously Fox was a big loss, and we still haven’t gotten Paramount, etc., but have there been a lot of other changes? Are people just figuring Walmart secured the deal because of their physical presence, and so now studios will pull out? Or that they’ve wanted to bail for a while, and the ownership change will give them an opportunity?

Official-ish FAQ
https://vudu.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/418

Any way to export an inventory of your "owned" (leased) content from VUDU?

Off to see the D2D....

I am shocked D2D still exists when you can generate a UPC on your computer for a movie you don't really own and get it for 2 bucks.

Well according to the Vudu FAQ, both Instawatch and D2D will remain. So fret not - until they change this. Nothing is actually said about D2D, but since they don't address it and say nothing will change, I doubt anything will happen with it as of now.

https://vudu.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/418

And I use FandangoNow on Roku only, and it sucks to high heaven in its current state. I would think they'll do a major UI overhaul when they get ahold of Vudu.

Agreed, I browse Vudu more than almost anything else and it's just easy to use. I'll admit I haven't used Fandango much, but I can't imagine it'd be better than Vudu's interface.

I think they'd eliminate FandangoNow and just keep Vudu, even if they rename Vudu. It's better developed and just better all around.

I even buy shows, when sale even though on other sites I subscribe to bc I like Vudu better overall. Plus, I own it and know where it is at all times. At least for now.

You didn't choose the digital life, the digital life chose you. And we're all victims to digital. So who are the big players now besides Vudu? So very few, and none as big as Vudu, maybe iTunes for those that choose that one. Others are Amazon, Google Play, and Microsoft. So no service is full-proof and could eventually disappear.

Yeah, but at least MoviesAnywhere gives us some backup, since it means we have eligible movies on those services (plus MoviesAnywhere's website).

Except for Paramount, Lionsgate, MGM, and smaller labels. No backup for them.

I assume that’s what Defiant meant by “some backup on eligible movies.”

What's up with that "Earth Day Sale"? There are a lot of things in that "sale" that aren't on sale yet.
