Re: The Roku Thread
Roku will effectively ban porn channels on March 1st, 2022
https://www.engadget.com/roku-porn-ban-201136254.html Roku will effectively ban channels from Pornhub and other porn services on March 1st, 2022. The company is dropping support for "non-certified" private channels on that day in favor of beta channels that are limited to 20 users. That's potentially better for testers, but a headache for adult content providers who used those channels to get around Roku's restrictions on regular channels. |

Lol

Re: The Roku Thread
That's bullshit- private channels are Roku's main advantage. There's been plenty of stuff besides porn on them- if they lose those, I'll have less reason to prefer their devices over the competition.
|
Re: The Roku Thread
Is it really a necessity on Roku?
all that can easily be found on the www. |
Re: The Roku Thread
Oh I thought this thread bump was about Roku feuding with Google (Youtube) and Amazon...
|
Re: The Roku Thread
Uh oh...are they looking for investors and having a hard time due to pr0n channels like onlyfans?

Re: The Roku Thread
Well, good thing I impulse-bought a new Chromecast on my birthday- I now have that and Apple TV in addition to Roku, so if Roku decides it wants to suck it just won't get used much anymore.

Re: The Roku Thread
Roku signed a deal months ago to show some Lionsgate and Saban films movies on their ad supported channel.
Here are some of the masterpieces you can watch for free No this is not Sicario 3  and the newest one. A Died Hard rip-off with Mena Suvari and Jeff Fahey |
Re: The Roku Thread
If you like Bill Burr and dark comedy, he has a show called Immoral Compass on here. I guess this was a Quibi show. It is pretty good. Basically short skits with some notable faces. Some are misses but there are a lot of good ones.

Re: The Roku Thread
There’s a new Row8 $6 offer on the sidebar.

Roku and Google have reached a deal to keep YouTube and YouTube TV on Roku. https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/roku...u/?source=home

Re: The Roku Thread
I'm not sure exactly what this means. But I'll guess we'll know in January if there's an impact. I think it has to do with the voice controlled remote.

Re: The Roku Thread
Probably because Roku is going to ban porn channels.

Re: The Roku Thread
Boy, that really messed up a lot of people’s plans on here. There’s always a laptop or desktop.
For those interested in picking up a Roku Premiere, Best Buy has it for $17.99 as part of their DOTD. So pick one up before they’re illegal I guess. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/roku-pr...?skuId=6293217 |
Re: The Roku Thread
I've gotten like 3 Roku $6 coupons for Row8 over the last week or so. Used them for a few rentals.
Most recently I rented the 2 1/2 hour documentary Eastwood a Cinematic Legacy. |
Re: The Roku Thread
I was watching YouTube Tv on my Roku last night and I received an error message that the Roku is overheating. Anyone get this error before? I've had this Roku for about five months and never had that error before. I unplugged it and I plan on keeping it unplugged when I'm not using it for the time being. I ordered a free HDMI extender from Roku last night. Maybe moving it away from the HDMI Port will help it stay cooler? It's not enclosed in a cabinet and the TV is more than eight inches away from the wall.
|
Re: The Roku Thread
Yes I've had an overheating warning. But I had my Roku near an HDMI switch and that device gets very hot. I moved the Roku by itself and it hasn't had anymore warnings.

I have had my Ultra do that once too. It was when I was watching 4k NFL game. |
Re: The Roku Thread
I recently purchased a Roku streaming stick. I greatly prefer it to the Fire Stick I was using. Is it worth upgrading to a Roku with ethernet? I've never had WiFi connection problems, Just wondering what the real advantages are to the higher priced models.
|
Re: The Roku Thread
They run a little faster, apps load a little faster, but if you aren't having issues with that or connectivity then there isn't really a reason to upgrade.

Yep. That’s it.

Re: The Roku Thread
Roku is having a major outage. My device locked up so I thought something was wrong. Did factory reset and now I can't get it registered. They tweeted out they are having an issue. Fuckers. One of my other Roku devices work.
At least I don't have a TCL with Roku built in. The TV is unusable. You can't even use the HDMI inputs. Oooooof |
