I am enjoying it immensely. It is nice being able to see the local broadcast. For me, that means getting to see Pat Foley and Eddie Olzyk call each game. Plus, no blackouts. Living in CT, and wanting to watch Blackhawks games it doesn't pose a problem. But, if I want to watch a Ranger game, or the All Star Game, on the NHL package, it would be blacked out for me. Also, when I visit my sister in IN, the Blackhawks would be blacked out for me.
Games are streamed in HD as long as your connection supports it. My sister gets about 3 Mbps and it was fine. You also get access to other league games. Every day dring the season there are about 25 to 30 games available to stream.

Anyone use Roku for watchespn?
How is the quality on a 15 MB per sec connection?
Also is the streaming stick good or should I spend more for the Roku 2 or 3?

I watch watchespn with a first generation roku device.

Haven't had any problems. Don't know the speed of the connection.

Re: The Roku Thread

A couple people have asked about getting Soccer on the Roku. I just noticed the new channel KlowdTV gives you access to GolTV HD. I think it'll run you around $8.50/month. But there's a 1-Month Free Trial.

GOLTV is a Soccer focused Cable network which serves both the English and Spanish speaking soccer fans in the United States. GOLTV is available on DirecTV on channel 456 and offers 5 Bundesliga live games per match week. In addition, GOLTV offers coverage of the Argentinean, Brazilian and Uruguayan Leagues.

Acquired rights:

Germany - Bundesliga (2012-2015)
Two Live matches per weekend. One Saturday morning match and one Sunday morning match.

Brazil - Serie A - Brasileirao (2013-2015)

Mexico - Ascenso MX (2013-2015)
GolTV will broadcast more than 60 matches per season; airing the top two matches every week

Brazil - Campeonato Paulista A1 (2013-2015)

Portugal - Primeira Liga (2014-2016)
Broadcast of all of Benfica's home matches, as part of a two-year deal.

Uruguay - Primera Division (2014-2015)
Live matches of the Uruguayan Primera Division.

England - Premier League (2014-2016)
Contract with Everton, covering three hours of programming, including one match as well as pre and post-game shows.

Thanks for that info. I am trying klowd, but didn't know it was available on Roku.

Couple of comments, they do not yet have any DVR functions or options to watch previously aired broadcasts. Also, the Bundesliga they air really means Bayern, if playing, or Dortmund if not.

The best football option is still your previously mentioned Dishworld Sports. $10/month, Multiple Spanish, Italian, and French league matches each week, Chelsea, Bayern, and Arsenal matches replayed, various Cup competitions, and an 8 day replay feature.

GOL TV isn't on my Direct TV. It was on Ch. 620 but it was dropped for another soccer channel.

The amount of their coverage just tripled, since they added Bein, both English and Spanish channels.

I wish the YouTube Channel had a better search engine. DailyMotions search engine is 10 times better.

Re: The Roku Thread

Adding another Soccer service to the list: Fubo TV. Not sure if it is new or not. They have a limited amount of free content, such as news and match highlights, and premium content for $6.99/month, which includes Gol TV, English and Spanish, Benfica TV, Dortmund TV, and Everton TV. They also have on demand content, mostly previous matches from the above three clubs, but it appears some other Bundesliga matches as well. 30 day Free trial.

I've got Sling. Not many channels yet, but I use it for when I'm not in the mood to channel surf on Dish.

Re: The Roku Thread

Yeah the channel line-up is slim but they're channels I usually stop on.

I turned it on and the SI Swim Suit 2015 that was on Travel Channel and was very pleased with the special (which was chicks in skimpy bikinis and national parks / wild life which was pretty sweet) and video quality.

That's why I kept it, to use as an addition to our regular Dish subscription.

Re: The Roku Thread

I finally cut the cable the other day. Couldn't justify the $88/mo. we were spending to watch half a dozen shows.

My only issue is that we love watching Jeopardy and it isn't available anywhere. I've got an HD antenna on order so we can watch it live, but my gf usually gets home after it's over.

Thoughts?

Over-the-air DVR. I use a Channel Master DVR+. Initial purchase price is a bit steep, but the guide data is free.

Plex App on Roku getting an Upgrade

http://www.engadget.com/2015/02/24/p...nnel-redesign/

To put it mildly, the Plex channel for Roku players is due an overhaul -- an interface full of dull squares doesn't exactly do justice to your extensive media collection. Thankfully, Plex is giving the channel the makeover it needs. The new version brings the Roku client up to snuff with what you get on other platforms, including rich cover art and a greater emphasis on discovering video content like movie trailers and behind-the-scenes footage. As with Plex's other recent upgrades, though, there are a few things missing at the moment. The revamped software will handle your movies, music and TV shows, but channels, photos and playlists are still "coming soon." Also, you may have to be patient. The redesigned front end is available today to Plex Pass subscribers as a preview, but you'll have to wait if you'd rather not cough up cash for early access.

Re: The Roku Thread

I can wait. What I want is for Plex (and the Roku) to support Highcode 5.0+ so I can watch certain titles I own without the frame rate stuttering.

Re: The Roku Thread

I fucking hate that interface. They use it on the Xbox One / PS4 and it is shit compared to the simple albeit visually dated one on the Roku.

Re: The Roku Thread

I also agree with this. It's perfectly fine as it is now. This new one looks like it's trying too hard to adopt the minimalist/functional shit Apple is knee-deep in at the moment.

Re: The Roku Thread

I was watching the Outdoor Sports Channel on Klowd yesterday, and saw either highlights, or a commercial, but apparently Air Racing is on there.

Re: The Roku Thread

The newer version of Plex runs really fast on the Roku 3 and I like the multirow, but I still prefer the simplicity of the original interface, just wish it had multirow browsing.
