Casual - 7 episodes, pretty solid dramedy.

Batman v. Superman (Extended)...it was serviceable. most of the iconic moments were spoiled by Snyder's overwrought, over-stuffed plot and not so handy direction. i was ok with the pacing and length, but it was so bleak and dull, this world. the music cues seemed oddly peculiar as well. none of the soundtrack really jived with me. wasn't as iconic as it should have been. the actors were serviceable as well. i didn't think Affleck's Batman was all that great or even Gadot as Wonder Woman. i mean they were perfectly fine, but nothing spectacular. i guess i expected more since people raved about their performances. overall, it was just dark and glum and not triumphant like a movie like this is supposed to be.

Penny Dreadful pilot episode on Netflix. Never saw an episode of the show, didn't know the director of The Orphanage directed this episode until after but it didn't surprise me, one of the most beautifully shot pilots I've seen.

In the middle of a free month of Hulu (got it this month so I could watch Ron Howard's Beatles doc...then I'm cancelling) and just got done with 11.22.63. It's fantastic. Didn't think I would like it because I LOVED the book and I've never been a James Franco fan, but he's really good in this...totally changed my opinion of what he's capable of as an actor.

The Shallows...didn't really dig this one. The talking to herself, the slo-mo, the surgery on a seagull, that end. Just didn't work.

Captain America: Civil War...excellent the second time around, just excellent. Everything about this one was just about perfect. Evans fucking nails it. Wasn't a lover of the first two. Very good, but didn't grab me wholeheartedly, but this third entry is brilliant. Even the end credit sequences were riveting. 4.5 stars.

Just finished the last episode of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon. Really good show! Mostly an alternate history drama/espionage thriller, with a hint of science fiction in the overall mystery--which I expect will be explored in more depth in the upcoming second season. I've always liked Alexa Davalos since she was on a few eps of Angel. She does a great job in this. And Rufus Sewell is always excellent.

Easy - Netflix show, like 8 short movies by Joe Swanberg. Surprisingly enjoyable, I find Swanberg works better in 30 minute chunks.
Episode 6 was particularly memorable

I'm going to have to sit down and watch it again at some point. I don't think it's a horrible film, I've just always thought of it as a pretty average crime-drama that got more props than it deserved because of De Niro and Pacino being in it. But I haven't seen it in about a decade...maybe it's time for a re-visit.
