Fences...wow, just wow. i did not expect to love this that much. these were powerful performances on a whole nother level. i take back what i said pre-Oscars, Denzel should have taken Best Actor home. he was amazing, as was Affleck, but this was just better. the movie was amazing. deep and moving.

The Equalizer...so bad ass Washington was. I love the slow paced style. Definitely not a gritty movie. Look forward to sequel. And those last two kills, especially the 1st of two were great (very stylized and very John Woo-ish), loved the ending.

Kingsmen: The Secret Service...just pure fun. The action scenes are perfectly staged. That first pub brawl scene with Firth was poetic. Watched with a smile the whole time.

Aftermath...it was pretty good. Definitely something we haven't seen from Arnold in probably his career. some shades of Maggie, but more subdued and tense. didn't have many lines either. would think less than 50? solid performances by him and McNairy. not a bad rental.

Iron Eagle...this is a nostalgic movie for me. 86, I believe. Loved the hell out if it. Seeing it today, the soundtrack, the 80's cheese, a bad guy named "Knotcher". Just classic. I love this movie and Jason Gedrick ever since. Backdraft, Class of '96, The Heavenly Kid, always been around, mostly tv, but always around. Lou Gossett, fucking Queen music. Great movie!

Hidden Figures...very good and very well done. Didn't love it as most, but it was compelling and the 3 leads were just stellar.

Blackthorn...a reimagining if Butch Cassidy made it out of the shootout. Now older, maybe wiser and played by Sam Shepard who is always good. This movie wasn't great and the flashbacks were excruciating.

The Edge of Seventeen. Great movie, loved Woody Harrelson in it, but annoying that it's another high school movie where they tried to make us believe that the female lead is "ugly".

Lethal Weapon 2...bigger, badder, but not necessarily better. i know people say this is better than 1st, but i disagree. don't get me wrong, i still like this movie, a lot, but original is great. this is a great film too, but i always thought the backstory of who killed wife and why was a little out of place and coincidental. or, just didn't think it needed it. good action, good buddy stuff, good movie.

St. Elmo's Fire...doesn't hold up that well for me. I compared it to a younger The Big Chill, but it certainly is not. Still fun, enjoyable, but nothing great. The soundtrack is best part.
Quigley Down Under...this, i think is a little viewed Western, that is really good. I like Sniper shit and Selleck is just great. Of course, Alan Rickman r.i.p doing his exact Hans Gruber character. Love a good, smart western.

Kingsman: The Secret Service (Vudu)...not as fun as I remember, but still a blast.

Dad's Army. Not as funny as the show it's based on, it's still a very nice homage to the series and was fun to watch. Most of the actors do a fine job, and a few do a great job, with one exception. The actor playing Lance Corporal Jones played him all wrong - instead of being extremely excitable and often at the center of any physical comedy, he's played fairly muted.

The Big Sick (Vudu)...what can i say, i fell in love with this movie. great story, great dialogue, great characters and to know it was somewhat/mostly based on true story makes it so much more potent. this will win something at the Oscars. it has to. best rom-com in many moons.
