Frequency and No Tomorrow (both currently airing on The CW) did not get more episodes ordered. Both seasons will wrap by the end of January and the entire seasons will be available on Netflix by February. This is under the new CW/Netflix deal. |

I like No Tomorrow, so that's a shame, it should do pretty well on Netflix in the dead of winter though.

Not mentioned in the above list, but The Magicians season 1 is now available if you haven't seen it. Season 2 airs January 25TH, so you have time to binge. Don't know if this is the Uncut episodes though. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Just noticed that Legends season 2 (aired a few years ago on TNT) was finally posted to Netflix.
I never finished it and I'm aware that it was cancelled. For anyone who watched and remembers it, did the season end with any kind of closure? I think I finished 5 of the 10 episodes and it fell off my viewing schedule due to various reasons. |

Aside from the Marvel Superhero shows and the obvious hits (House of Cards, OITNB, Strange Things) are any of the Netflix Original series really good?

The OA sort of exemplifies everything right and wrong with the Netflix "Here's money, give us a show" methodology. It's in parts brilliant, ridiculous and flatout stupid -- but man does it swing for the fences. Otherwise, I really enjoyed Love, Easy, Master of None, Unbreakable Kimmy, Wet Hot American Summer, and BoJack Horseman. |

I think bloodline is terrific.

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Lady Dynamite isn't for everyone, but I think it's pretty amazing.
Also, W/Bob & David is a pretty spot on continuation of Mr. Show. |

Sense8 starts slow but what a great show...the Wachowski's and J. Michael Straczynski are quite the team. Wet Hot American Summer and Grace & Frankie are very good. The Fall which is a BBC production is incredible if you are a horror/suspense fan. |

Alice Through the Looking Glass and Ratchet & Clank have been added.

New upcoming Netflix movie, reminds me a bit of The OA but.. not.
The Discovery - Starring: Jason Segel, Rooney Mara, Robert Redford, Jesse Plemons, and Riley Keough, directed by Charlie McDowell (The One I Love) Synopsis: A love story set one year after the existence of the afterlife is scientifically verified. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Seinfeld's 'Comedians in Cars' moves to Netflix this year
https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/17/...lix-this-year/ Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is jumping from Sony's Crackle streaming service to one that people actually watch: Netflix. Late this year, the show will debut with 24 new episodes according to Variety. What's more, 59 back episodes of the Emmy nominated show will arrive on the streaming service as well, and there are plans for another new run of episodes for next year. If you're more a fan of Seinfeld's stand-up work there's even more good news. Following the multi-million dollar deals Netflix signed with Chris Rock and (presumably) Dave Chappelle, Seinfeld will film two new specials that will be exclusive to the service. Not too shabby for a guy who made us all laugh about "nothing." Of course, if you want to watch the eponymous show that made Seinfeld a household name, you still need a Hulu subscription. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
For anyone interested, the entire 1st season of the CW series No Tomorrow is now on Netflix.
Season Finale aired last Tuesday. It's a really charming series, which unfortunately didn't fit with CW's viewers. I think it was simply on the wrong network. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
I really liked No Tomorrow as well

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Pardon my ignorance but has Netflix and Amazon decided not to do anymore streaming newer releases? For awhile there it seemed they would throw us a bone and stream a movie every couple weeks that came out the same time as redbox (which was still several weeks after on-demand, video store release date) but now I don't see much. Sausage Party on the 23rd is close I guess.

But them posting actual new studio movies is more miss than hit. They tend to focus more on TV, Netflix originals and older movies. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
The more original shows on Netflix, the chances of seeing newer movies/same as Redbox will dwindle is my best guess. I'd rather they get some better movies and get rid of the cheaper crap I have to dig through just to find something decent. And what's with the Roku app playing music or a trailer when I hover over a title? Good god that's really annoying, and there's no option to turn it off except for muting. Guess I'll be casting titles unless that goes away.

Their fastest releases tend to be Disney (ie: they had Captain America: Civil War, the Jungle Book, Zootopia, and Alice Through the Looking Glass were all about 7 months after their theatrical releases) since they're more or less the exclusive "Cable" provider for Disney movies (it used to be Starz). They stopped focusing on movies so much because they generally cost $20 - $30m for rights and are all of 90 minutes of content versus $50m for a 12 episode series, and I'm on board with that for the most part. That said they do seem to be culling their movies down a bit, less B movie in favor of fewer movies of higher grade -- albeit most are lesser known. There's no option to shut off the trailers yet as it's a newer feature, they don't bother me but I agree the music is pretty awful. I usually just hop on InstantWatcher.com and add stuff to my queue. All this said, I do wish they would commit to a Tuesday, or Saturday, night "new movie" release like HBO does. Add a new decently well known movie a week, something to look forward to. The only "big" titles coming in February appear to be Finding Dory and Sausage Party. Though I am looking forward to the Andy Whitfield documentary. |
Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
And that's understandable, and I'm not expecting same date as Redbox for Netflix streaming, considering how cheap Netflix still is, for now at least. Though I have noticed a lot of stuff coming to streaming subscription services months before they would typically come to cable. There is a lot of older stuff I'd rather see pop up than new, but I guess I'll settle for Tribeca Shortlist in the meantime.
