I've had three preorders backordered for close to a month now. Two are back in limited stock, but do my copies ship? No. I reordered these items from Amazon three weeks ago and I'm glad I did, as I'd probably never see them otherwise. All I want now is just to get these duplicates to trade or put up on eBay.

Got about 6 days left till the order is cancelled now. I called and tried to get them to substitute, but they won't do that. I wouldn't mind the cancellation.....but I paid for these on a debit card, and with their f*cked charging system and coupons applied, I don't know exactly what I'd credit myself back if they're cancelled. So I guess I'll just have somewhere around $60 extra permanently floating around in my checking.

Okay I'll go look for some cheese now to go with this whine.

don't use a debit card...

I have gotten all the preorders I placed with them on time and still have one or two to go. They also didn't hold up individual items for all to be there unlike amazon...

I know everyone says don't use a debit card.....but this one we have has more protection etc. than usual. Really, I have used it hundreds of times for online shopping. The problem is the wife has a real issue with me racking up cc charges but she can't complain if I take my own money, deposit it and pay for my own stuff with the debit card....that way everything is always 100% paid up.

IMO, for me at least they really dropped the ball...I put those orders in 2-3 weeks ahead of street date. The stuff I reordered from Ken Cranes and Amazon (originally there were two more on backorder but those two did show up) after street date shipped out immediately. These weren't hard to find titles.

As far as shipping, yes it's nice having things ship when available, but really how hard is it to consolidate a little bit so everything has the same street? In the long run, TWEC will be going under if they charge you like $6-10 shipping and then make 5 different FedEx shipments on one order. Shipping costs money and I'd rather have Amazon stick around a litte bit longer than to go out of business from having to take it up the arse on shipping all the time.

Just my 2 cents.....I'll get over this but I'm not placing any more preorders and probably not any other orders with TWEC. Just not enough flexibility and reliability in their system.

Sorry to hear about your problems with Twec. So far my experiences have been good with them. I received 12 of 13 preorders either early or on time. The one late order was the Rock Criterion Collection which arrived a week late. They even billed me correctly when applying discounts to my orders. I would second using a credit card over a debit card.

BTW....this debit card is a VISA card...to merchants is is always only seen as a VISA. The info from the issuing bank says it has the same buying protection and security as a Visa Gold card. Still not use it?

I mean if there's a really good reason not to, I'll think twice but as of yet I haven't seen one. It seems like it's repeated like a mantra not to use a debit card, but what kind of debit card is everyone referring to?

Heh I suppose this backorder and possible cancellation with TWEC is a reason, but this is the first time I've run into something like this.

1) TWEC is a smaller etailer and doesn't get the same access as others. Usually, I believe preorders need to be in 4-6 weeks prior to make sure THEY order enough copies. Also, some titles don't have enough available at street and the smaller guys can get shorted.

2) Even though they CHARGE a credit card on shipping, they hold an authorization against the limit. With a debit card I believe the amount of your transaction is tied up from the start..

number 2 is the reason I would never use a debit card.

matchpenalty, you have valid enough points and I don't mean to argue with you. I'm not sure if my card is charged like that or not...but as far as that goes, wouldn't really matter much to me.

TWEC is supposed to be a web front for all of these retail chains....if this is true you'd think they'd have copies of these movies somewhere....and like I said, the website shows two of mine to be back in limited stock but my order status page doesn't even show mine as being 'in process'.

I've had other outfits not get me a preorder on street date either and I don't consider it a cardinal sin. It's just that 99% of the time Amazon has gotten me preorders every time. But if they didn't, or I needed to cancel or change a preorder, I can do it at Amazon. That's my beef, whether TWEC means well or not I consider it a negative aspect of them that I'm just stuck in limbo like this. Their prices are worse than Amazon when you aren't using a coupon, and you can't really rely on the coupons in the future....that's why I say no more TWEC for me.
