I have been waiting for my Harvey from Buy.com since 2/6 and its still on-order. I checked out some of A. Hitchcock titles I pre-ordered for 3/6 at 19.99 and now they are listed at 23.99, each!!! Ouch, I guess I can forget/cancel this order!!! Even though they already gave me -30.00 off on the 2 titles they already sent me

If you pre-order long enough in advance the price will be real low, but if you order the day before it comes out it will be close to the MSRP. Next time you pre-order keep checking on the price as the release date nears and you will see the price slowly increase.

does anybody know since the pre-order prices have gone up considerably from the older pre-order price, will your older order stay on the old price, or will that go up too?

Your price will stay the same as what you ordered it at if they raise prices. But just when you might receive your order may be in question.

I think they have raised pre-order prices to only 20% off the SRP. I wonder what they go up to after they come out!

The problem I've had with Buy is just the opposite. I pre-order at one price and as time goes by they've lowered their price. Example, on 12/25/00 I
pre-ordered Get Carter for 14.49 and In the Line of duty for 19.99. Just today I got an email add from them showing the titles as 13.49 and 16.99 respectively. Naturally, I emailed them asking for the $4 credit.
Since this is not the first time this has happened to me I know I'm in for a little bit of hell but if you keep bugging them they usually give in and give the credit. The last time it took over a month and numerous emails, but they finally gave me $3 credit when I was only looking for $2.50

I've had the same problem as dp20957--that is, when I pre-order months in advance the price is higher, then about a month before release date, they lower price.

I call customer service and ask for an adjustment and they act as if I want a price-match. With their policy, the price-match (from other vendors) is only good for 24 hours after you place your order (what a guarantee!!)

But then I try to explain that this is a price adjustment for their current price, they act as though they can't do it. It seems as though once your order is placed with Buy, it is carved in stone.

I've just gotten tired of the hassle and so I usually just cancel my Buy order and get it elsewhere.

Holy Cripes! Did you see the prices now? seems there is no more pre-booking. Prices are 20 % or less! ZARDOZ was once at 15.99, now 18.99. iN PURSUIT was at 19.99, now at 23.49! and they dont evne come out until March! Amazon seems cheaper now on pre-books!

I must say it's a pity really! Buy.com have historically been one of the most consistent, reliable and credible
e-merchants but lately they have started to go downhill -
fast and this downward trend seems to be getting faster
by the day.
Their customer service is quickly evaporating into thin air, or should I have said cyber-space!!! Anytime you
try to e-mail customer service for ANY issue, you get
their STANDARD and AUTOMATIC impersonal reply, you just
have to forget about getting any sort of specific response
to your specific isues.
I have tried to bring all their shortcomings even to the
attention of Greg Hawkins (I think I got the name right, he is the CEO of buy.com, I have repeatedly asked customer
service for his BUSINESS e-mal address or number, never
has gotten me anywhere!)
I used to order from buy.com ALL THE TIME, I guess it's
time to say goodbye to them too! Pity is not only have
they lost my DVD business, they have also lost ALL of my
business.
Hasta La Vista buy.com!

This is sad There will be no compelling reason to order from Buy.com with these prices, unless they release a coupon. Otherwise why would you pay more than Amazon's prices to get Buy.com's poor level of customer service.

Absolutely. I used to buy exclusively from buy.com, now I look at the prices of everything I order on several sites, and then 1/2 the time I end up ordering from Amazon.com. Problem with them is that they INSIST on shipping by UPS, which I hate because there is never anybody at home. You know the story!! So - when prices at buy.com = amazon.com I'll still order from buy.com because they listen to me when I specify that I want USPS delivery, and at least the post office will leave packages between the doors!!! With UPS I have to call them & ask them to change delivery address to my office --- then I have to carry it home!!

The bad thing with these price changes is that if you ordered something at a lower price it will probably be awhile before you get it. I had Harvey pre-ordered for 19.99 and then it changed to 20.99 and then to 23.99. It was in-stock from Monday of last week until Friday when it went back to on-order. Dont know what to think of my A. Hitchcock titles I ordered at 19.99 and now are listed at 23.99 on the same order.

UPS will leave the package at your door if you post authorization for them to do so, or if you have a standing authorization to release on file with them. I do, and have never had a problem with UPS leaving the packages. Usually, even when I am home, they just ring the doorbell, drop the package at the front door, and drive off.

Perhaps they are actually trying to make money and not go out of business

I had the same problem I had pre ordered Whipped for $19.99 then they raised the price to $20.99 now it is going for $23.99. After waiting a week and not receiving it (even though it was in stock) I canceled my order and shockingly they canceled it. Usually they won't cancel a order. It was like pulling teeth before to have them cancel a order in stock oh well bye bye buy.com.

AGoodManGoes,

I already got 2 titles with them with a -30.00 off coupon on 150.00 order. Its fine with me if they want to cancel the rest of the order so it will be a -30.00 off of 40.00 order. I still want the titles I ordered from them though. I doubt they will get many orders with their current pricing even if they had coupons.

Let's face it, the Dark Ages of DVD prices are upon us, and it's only going to get worse. I yearn for the days of yesteryear and plenty of those Reel coupons.

Cartload is basically right. All I can say at this point is that I hope Amazon retains the 30% on preorders....because that is still a decent price (for me anyway) on titles I probably couldn't find in Best Buy anyway.

Besides a couple of orders Buy needs to fill in regards to preorders......they have just about lost my business!!!

Men Of Honor....preorder price...$22.49 WTF!!!!

No coupons available......I think places like Amazon among others will be seeing a surge in business in the near future!!! Especially if Amazon....who is currently conducting surveys on pricing in regards to dvds and shipping.....begins a reward program as indicated in the survey where you would get a free dvd for every 10 purchased!!!
