Last week I went to CC to purchase "Me, Myself and Irene". I brought Fry's ad which had a price of $14.95. The clerk tried calling Fry's but couldn't get an answer so she went off to find the manager. She came back about 5 minutes later and rang up the sale at $14.95. I told her I was entitled to an extra 10%, so she went off to find the manager again. This time she could find him, so she came back and rang up the sale as $14.85 plus tax--instead of an extra 10% she gave me and extra discount of 10 cents! I was so amused by that (and didn't want her to go off and look for a manger again) so I said "Fine" and accepted it. Sometimes ya just gota laugh!

ur luckier than me, they told me i had to buy it at their price first and bring in the competitor's ad (which the cashier had in his hand btw) and then pricematch it. I told him blankly, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard." His reply, "That's our policy." I didn't want to wait there forever for him to find the manager to sign off on it, so I let the 10% go. Either way, I got Shakespeare In Love: CE for $19.99.

Between this, the two Dinosaur fiascos, and not honoring the price guarantee in Nov. and Dec., I'm wondering if we should all bombard their CS dept. with email and POLITELY ask them just what the hell is going on.

Make 'em think twice about what they're doing. If they don't want our business, farg 'em....

But if you look at their pricematch policy on their website, it's particularly generous. They even pricematch the wholesale clubs such as Sam's and Price Club.

You realize you're bitching over 10ccents right? MMI was $16.99 at CC, $16.99-14.95 = ~$2 which makes a $2.20 pricematch and you got $2.10. I usually don't even bring up that extra 10% because i'd feel embarassed.
As a side note, EVERY time i go into CC to pricematch, they pricematch it, no questions asked, no manager's approval. I buy almost all of my B&M DVDs there.

I think the extra off is only on the amount between the 2 prices and not the amount of what it was advertised for.

You'd be surprised what people bitch about.

I work at a supermarket service desk, and I swear that 1 time, a person waited about 10 minutes in line because the cashier overcharged them 7 cents on a piece of fruit.

7 F'IN CENTS

Other people waited in line for a while for ridiculously small amounts, as well, but that was the lowest I remember.

Amazing.

But the point is, they DIDN'T honor their PM policy. Who cares how liberal a policy is if the store won't honor it.....

I believe you are missing the point. When most people say it is not about the money but the principle of it. The fact is it usually is about the money. However, here, 7 cents is too insignificant to matter so there must be some other reasoning for the person to wait. My bet is many people do not like to be taken advantage of. I know I do not. Like the individual who started this thread. I am sure he could care less about 20 cents but he did ask the clerk to check with the manager to subtract the 20 cents because his interpretation of their policy entitled him to the 20 cents. What I find more amazing than the customers are some of the incompetent clerks who cannot punch in the CORRECT price to begin with.

And, here we go with the f'in retail workers are morons stereotype. Well, you know what? Nobody's perfect. Just because a person was overcharged 7 cents means the cashier is imcompetent? I fail to see the logic behind that.

In fact, many people I know who work in retail are either high school or college students (like myself), or college grads who work retail as a second job for more money.

Sure, the one person buying the one piece of fruit seems minor...

I certainly hope someone takes the initiative and points out to a manager that the store is overcharging seven cents on that single piece of fruit. In the course of a day the store is likely overcharging many unknowing customers and it's adding up. Plus, it's illegal.

FYI ... I am a former Circuit City employee, and I can tell you that as of 1 week ago, that was NOT their policy. The manager is just being a hard-ass, due to their lack-luster revenue numbers. Their stocks have been hit really hard, and they are really stingy when it comes to markdowns. This is just a sign of the times. It's going to be an interesting ride...

Whatever. What about all those people that KNOWINGLY try to use coupons that are expired and/or for a different product than what they bought? That dollar coupon is more of a loss for the store than the extra 7 cents they get from that mistake, which the customer got anyway.

Why are you getting so defensive? I never said you were incompetent. I said 'some...' You do have to admit some of your coworkers are morons. Isn't there some truth behind all stereotypes?

How come you fail to understand why someone is incompetent when he/she cannot do his/her job correctly yet you are quick to judge customers who wait in line to get a pricing ERROR corrected?
