I got 2 promotional GC's from Amazon, one for $10 and 1 for $20 due to them messing up my order a few times. The expiration on the replacements is 3-1-01.

Can I preorder an item which comes out after 3-1-01, or does the item have to ship and the remainder of the order charged to my cc before 3-1-01

You just need to use the coupon before the expiration date. The release date of the DVD has no bearing.

Just be sure not to cancel any order with any GC (promo or non-promo) past the expiration date. You're going to lose it.

Promotionals usually have a life of 1-3 months. Yes, to use a coupon means just to place an order with it, regardless of when the order ships.

I mean, if you used one 5 minutes before it expired, it wouldn't ship by then anyway, right? A preorder is just an extreme example of the delay between order time and shipping/credit card charging time.
