Exactly par for the course from my experiences. I double-checked my account status and I have made 4 preorders from amazon since July:
Seven (street 12/19) - shipped 12/18
American Beauty (street 10/24) - shipped 10/23
My Cousin Vinny (street 7/24) - shipped 7/23
Star Trek II (street 7/11) - shipped 7/10
So they have always shipped preorders the day before street date.

I ordered mine on Sunday, shipped Monday from Amazon, arrived this morning!!!
But...our puppy got the delivery package and ripped it all up!
The only thing not damaged is the two discs.
So Geoff if you know how to get a hold of Nel Line please let me know!

Got my Se7en today from amazon 
Also, I've usually received good service from amazon. I think the latest one of my preorders (around 5) has come is Wednesday or Thursday.

Picked up a copy from Best Buy today. I cancelled my copy from Amazon this morning when it did not indicate it was shipping anytime soon.

I received mine from Towers yesterday (12/22).
Received the email shipment notice on 12/18.
