Here's my plan:
1) I only have $40 worth of DVD's to buy.
2) I buy these along with $60 of pre-order stuff to get the free shipping.
3) After a couple of days I cancel the pre-orders.
4) My $40 worth of stuff arrives.
Will they back-charge me the shipping? Or is this a good plan?

one of the requirements for free shipping is selecting the "ship everything at once when it's all available" option. so i don't really think your plan will work all that well, unfortunately.
