I also haven't received Spinal Tap after having preordered about a week before it came out. I've now been trying to cancel the order for a couple of weeks and just buy it somewhere else.

Wow, you have the patience of a saint. Buy.com lost my business for good after two weeks' delay for Spinal Tap. (I cancelled it and got it in two days at 800.com for 50 cents more.) This was after several titles I ordered went sour even though I'd pre-ordered them.
I keep seeing posts on this forum from people who've pre-ordered from Buy. Typical exchange:

- [*]"Have any of you received xyz from Buy.com yet? It was released a week ago and it still says 'sent to warehouse' on my order."
[*]"I got mine three days before the release date. Buy.com rocks!"[/list]
Seems like Buy.com's really really spotty with pre-orders, so pre-orderer beware.

I finally managed to cancel the order after many phone calls and after being lied to repeatedly by their CSRs. If I called and gave my order number, they would "check with the warehouse" and report that they were still waiting on a shipment of Spinal Taps to replace the recalled ones. If, on the other hand, I called and just asked them to verify with the warehouse if they had "Spinal Tap" in stock, there were "loads of 'em". I then said, "Good! Here's my order number, now FILL IT!" After a long hesitation and consultation with a supervisor, the CSR claimed that the disks had just arrived, and mine would go out that day or the next. I cancelled the order about four days later when the order was still "Awaiting Shipment". I bought the DVD in Canada and got it for less than what Buy was charging.
Interestingly enough, this is the only time I've successfully cancelled an order with Buy. The other two times, they've completely ignored the cancellation and shipped the disk anyway.

I emailed customer support and they said that they had to resubmit the order and that they were crediting me the shipping charge ($3.95, I ordered another disk with it) for inconvenience. We'll see what happens.

They finally canceled spinal tap after 2 months of it being on order, 3 weeks of requesting cancellation, 4 phone calls, and 2 customer support emails. I'm just going to buy it previously viewed at blockbuster, and I will be very careful about preordering from buy.com in the future.
