I have a dvd pre-ordered that I wish to
cancel at this point (just found out about the second x-men dvd coming out in a few monthes). The problem is that
I used a $10 promo gift certificate when I
placed the order. I know if I cancel the
order, the date has already passed on the
gift certificate and I'll loose it. Is it
possible to create another order for a
different movie then combine them and cancel the dvd I dotn want anymore? will that
still work??? help!

Yessirr, can be done.
I had ordered MI2 using the promotional $10/- GC sent by snail-mail in September.
I then decided to get MI2 from my local Bestbuy at $14.99. So I pre-ordered X-Men, combined the 2 orders (which it surprisingly allowed) and then cancelled MI2 from that order. The $10/- credit was retained.
The point is that when you combine orders, it always adds the items into the oldest order and as the date on the oldest is within the validity date of the GC, the credit will be retained (even if the ordered item was cancelled)
I have since then pre-ordered Hollow Man and combined it with the X-Men order. If there is a good deal at my BestBuy/CC, I will do the same thing again. Ha. Ha
I wonder if this is a bug or a 'feature'
Try it out

You should be able to do it.I have cancelled several pre-orders and other stuff I find on the local front.Just go combine your orders at your account, pick a order to combine and combine it. After that go back to the order you just combined and cancel the other item no longer needed!!a possible problem could be your payment method(put check or money order when you do it!!) and if the item is a 24 hour or 2-3 day item!!Then you can (I hope) cancel the DVD you do not want anymore!!I hope this works!!tell me if does by email or the boards here!!!Good Luck!!

DVD Talk Limited Edition
I suggest not cancelling the X-Men pre-order yet because, according to FOX's head of DVD, Peter Staddon, IF they do re-release it (NOT a guarantee), it will be as a catalog title, and wouldn't be out until the sequel hits theaters, at the earliest. It, definitely, will not be out in "a few months," though, as you say.

It worked! Thanks alot! I just replaced
X-Men with Frequency. I am sure my girlfriend
will be much happier with this selection
than x-men...at least until that second
suped-up dvd is released ;-)
