Hi. I received The Patriot in the mail yesterday (Friday) along with American Beauty and U-571 from buy.com. I've ordered pretty much exclusively from buy.com over the past few months and every pre-order has showed up before the release date (usually the Friday or Saturday before).

I haven't received my PATRIOT yet, probably because I cancelled it!
This title is an example of how Buy is raising their prices. For a $27.95 title, they would charge $14.99 or $16.99, but now they want $19.49. Add to that they now charge sales tax here in Indiana, and it almost makes their price seem high.
On PATRIOT, I will buy at a B&M to find the best price. Several forum members have already found a $17.88 price at Wal-Mart, for example.
The whole point of buying pre-orders on line, is that they will give you some sort of price advantage. But when that does not work, I will wait to buy at retail even if I have to do so on street date. or a few days later.

Check their site tomorrow....you may see that they did not ship your titles out until Friday or today!!! Their site usually updates around 12 noon!!! I am still waiting to see if they shipped Pitch Black and U-571...will check tomorrow to see if they did or not!! Their site is always way behind the real time activity going on within their company.

Well, I am an hour in a half into the movie and I can describe this dvd so far with one word....OUTSTANDING!!! Excellent transfer...great audio...will finish the movie tomorrow evening and then start with all of the extras.

A follow up on my earlier posting about why I cancelled my $19.49 order of PATRIOT from Buy.com
Since I thought the price was high even for Buy, I decided to wait until street date and buy it. Sure enough, Circuit City had it for $14.99, a $4.50 savings (not counting shipping).
I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come, namely that deals on major titles will be better at B&M than online. Things do indeed seem to be changing.
