I want to buy stuff from buy.com and have it shipped it a friend who lives in the UK, but their account signup thing requires that I give my address as it appears onmy credit card statement - which is my home address in the UK. Does anyone know whether they actually check whether it is your real billing address? They don't let me enter my UK address - it has to be US. I was just going to enter my friends US address here.

Will that work?

I believe for verification of your credit card the Billing address should match your address in the uk...but I would think you should be able to enter a separate shipping address....if not, call them and ask to speak with their billing office!!! They should be able to work it out for you.

The problem is that the website won't let me enter a non US address - I suppose I could just enter my friends US address and then fire off an email to them explaining the problem.

As I suggested earlier...the problem you may encounter is with your credit card verification....they may not obtain authorization with an address which is not linked to your credit card. I would still call their customer service number and ask to speak with their billing office if you experience problems with them accepting this order!! They should be able to work it out...they just want to make sure someone is not using a stolen credit card.
