Re: So Best Buy's website got lousier
I went to Best Buy today mainly to browse the movie and video game section. I ended up buying two Blu-ray movies. They didn't print me a receipt. They just said that I would get an receipt in my email. Is this their new standard operating procedure? I prefer a paper receipt in case I need to make a return. That way I don't have to search through my email for the receipt....

No free shipping on Blu-ray or dvd purchases?
I saw $5.99 at checkout even if I had $38 worth of merchandise in my cart.

They are pushing some new package called totaltech:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/electro...t1629315977983
200 bucks a year for geek squad stuff, special sales, product pretection, extended return window, and... 2 day shipping.
It does include applecare but only while you're subscribed so you need to be on it for two years to get that two year applecare warranty.
Maybe they're taking "free shipping" off of some products (if the product is eligible for free shipping it says so on the product page, and I see that on most blu rays I saw... which ones did you add?)

They've just done some overhaul with accounts too. Not sure if it would be noticeable to others, but they no longer allow "shared" accounts.
What irks me is I never attempted to share accounts, but about ten years ago they did some big data migration and somehow linked me and my dad under one account. The first few times I went in and they asked for my phone number, they would enter it and then ask "is this you?". I would say no, that's my dad and they would tell me I needed to call their 1-800 number because they had no ability to edit the data. I finally gave up and just accepted it. Now I get an email last month that they've identified me and my dad as sharing accounts and that my order history (99% of the orders) would no longer be viewable to me and would remain under his account and that his account would maintain the Rewards status (which is always top tier). So I basically get screwed out of premium benefits for the rest of this year, and all of next year, and I have no access to my previous order history.

I've never had anything linked to anyone. I know it's too late but should've fixed that shit when it happened.

That's ok, your premium Elite benefits are going by the wayside eventually anyway unless you pony up 200 bucks a year for a membership.

Re: So Best Buy's website got lousier
Best Buy are grating my last nerve. I ordered my nephew an action figure from their site. It came with two right feet, so I returned it using a pre-paid UPS label. A month later, they shipped it back to me with a rejection letter. The letter listed all of their non-returnable categories, none of which pertained to my order. So I contacted customer service. They put me on hold for at least an hour before telling me it was now past the 15 day return window and I could not return the item unless I drove to an out-of-town store and asked a manager to make a policy exception. I told them that was unacceptable. If I could not return it by mail, at the very least they should issue a partial refund if they expect customers to keep defective merchandise. Big surprise: they disconnected me.
Pissed off, I filed an "item not as described" PayPal case. They asked for the tracking info to prove I returned the item. Best Buy didn't respond until the last possible day - only to claim "Best Buy Co., Inc. notified that they received an empty box or a different item". Really now? Then how the hell did they manage to return the same defective figure back to me if they only received an empty box or a different item? Falsely accusing their customers of return fraud is a new low, even for this garbage company. I'm curious to see how this dispute plays out, but I can't help but feel the little guy (me) will get screwed over in the end.

Generally surprised people still deal with this company. If it's too late to do a chargeback, I'd put them on social media blast but doubt that would do anything.

So movies aren’t their thing anymore, but action figures are?

Re: So Best Buy's website got lousier

Still, the nerve of someone at this corporation to provide PayPal with an easily refutable lie by accusing me of returning an empty box or different item - all so I might lose the case on a $35 defective toy? They'd rather play it that way than reach out to correct the situation (like most any other major retailer would). Beyond the pale.
