NewEgg can fuck right off, as far as I'm concerned. They started gouging, early, on graphics cards, and continue to do so. I won't be spending a dime, there.

You might be thinking of a situation that happened last year when the current line of graphics cards came out. They were in such short supply that units which were meant for pre-built machines (no OEM packaging) were being sold/shipped as the retail SKU and arriving in just an antistatic bag, inside a box.

No OEM hard drives.
