I heard that you won't be able to pre-order X-Men until the 29th. But I found two links at buy.com to pre-order X-Men. Is it safe if I pre-order it from buy and if so, what link should I use? Or do I gotta wait until the 29th?

(can I call you aob for short?)

I gotta say "no." I get a small chill every time the words "pre-order" and "Buy.com" appear in the same sentence... I've pre-ordered often from them, but their performance is really uneven: sometimes you'll get the title before the release date, sometimes you'll get it well after. If you're unwilling to wait a week or two after the release date, I'd go with a different vendor.

But then, I'm not unbiased: they still haven't shipped my Spinal Tap order over a week after the release date.

In the past six months I have not had any problems with Buy for pre-orders. More often than not I get the disc early. Heck Braveheart was like 5 days early. Gotta like that. I have had the worst luck with Amazon. I have never gotten one less than 4 days after street.

I've ordered more than 20 pre-orders at buy.com and I only had to wait for one of them (Edward Scissorhands). I didn't mind because I was out of town at the time.

I believe that you should be safe with a preorder from buy.com, but shouldn't you wait until they offer a better discount? You should be able to get a 40% discount at B&M's like Best Buy and Circuit City the first week of release.

Keep in mind that with buy.com the price you agree to is the price you will pay. If the price goes down they don't automatically reduce it according to some members of this forum.

Good luck!

All I'm saying is that with Buy.com your mileage may vary: I'm glad to hear that many of you haven't had troubles. I, on the other hand, have had about half my pre-orders late (including one that was a month off). I'm also not the only one who's had trouble -- see some of the other posts on this topic.

The lesson, IMHO is that their response is spotty...
