Best Buy free ship any amount -- gone.

It was great for a while but I knew it wouldn't last. Now they want a $25 min purchase. I wonder where they got that...

Well, for me it means it's unlikely I'll be buying much from Best Buy online; and with reduced stock in real stores, not much reason to shop there. But I figure the company doesn't care a lot about people who pop 10 or 20 bucks for media. I can't really blame them.

Did Wal-mart do the free ship on all movies before?

Looking for movies on BB is kind of a pain. They don't seem to label their blus/dvds well so it's confusing sometimes.

It was losing money for them. There is a reason why no one else offers that on the web anymore. Shipping costs have gone up, largely tied to rising fuel costs.

There are good indicators Best Buy intends to commit a strategic withdrawal from selling physical media in any significant quantity. I doubt their media sections are bigger than one or two racks by 2014.

Went into a Best Buy last Monday for the first time in a while- my GOD has their stock dwindled to practically nothing (if Tarantino were still here, he'd probably ask why I even bothered going in at all.) They did have "Teen Witch" for $4.99 so I bought that, but told them in their online survey how it looks like they just want to lose my business entirely, and thanked them for helping to put Tower and Virgin out of business before deciding they didn't want to sell media anymore.

Yep. In the near future, their selection will probably limited to selling new release movies only with maybe a few high profile catalog titles thrown into the mix, like Hunger Games, LOTR/Hobbit, and Avengers-family movies that are tied into a new release.

The music selection will probably go this way, too, with nothing but the current Top 20/40 CDs available.

The current selection of media is so scant that it looks like someone filled their DVD/blu-ray/CD shelves with the contents of a Wal-Mart dump bin.

Their online survey seemed to REALLY want my information so they could contact me and apologize for what I complained about, but never heard from them, likely because they know there's nothing they can do at this point. I just hope they go out of business while we still have one real record store in the area.

So you can pay bloated full retail? Dimple isn't a competitor to Best Buy.

Dam I was thinking of buying Poltergeist 2 Blu-ray for $7.99 until I found out you need to buy $25 worth of goods.

Maybe I saved myself some money.

So I can buy ANYTHING at ANY price! A world with no record stores is a world I don't want to live in.

Re: Best Buy free ship any amount -- gone.

I noticed all the stores have started using spiders on their box sets. Trashed all the Wizard of Oz & Dark Knight sets. That's it for me... I'll have to go to Fry's for box sets now.

Re: Best Buy free ship any amount -- gone.

Does Best Buy still have those stands for the big new releases like lron Man 3 where they have maybe 100 or more copies?

Re: Best Buy free ship any amount -- gone.

They did last time I was there- looks like they'll still have the new releases like that, then a couple shelves with recent stuff but just a minimal amount beyond that. Funny that they're trashing stuff with spiders now, they've already lost a lot of sales from me just for putting price tags on unsealed slipcovers, but that can't possibly be the reason their sales are down! They just need to hurry up and go out of business at this point.

Re: Best Buy free ship any amount -- gone.

I took advantage of the $25 free shipping last week and even though "free shipping any amount" is gone, I was able to expedite my order and received it in 4 business days as oppose to the 10 - 14 days of regular shipping without paying anything extra.
