That looks like many of my deliveries where the USPS is involved. I live ~65 miles from a major Amazon warehouse and the USPS regional depot is in that same city (a different state than where I live). I've had packages go in the opposite direction before turning around and coming back. I've had them go to my state capitol, back to the depot, and then come to me. And sometimes I'll order something today and get it tomorrow (which *should* be normal for *any* USPS delivery to me). I don't know what kind of "logistics" they're using but it's *highly* flawed.

I'm surprised the union isn't able to do anything about the mandatory overtime and banning of using sick days. Also I can't believe DeJoy is still Postmaster General.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I guess Amazon's warehouses are slammed and they are giving low priority to some items.
I ordered a couple of Criterions on Sunday that are in stock and they aren't scheduled to arrive until Saturday. So much for the days of guaranteed 2-day Prime shipping. |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Yeah, that happens every year this time. I'm not sure how their algorithm decides what does or doesn't ship immediately but I see the same. Couple things I ordered last weekend haven't shipped and should arrive Sat. Other things ordered the same day arrived on Tuesday as normal.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I've had 3 items now that I ordered over BF weekend completely miss their expected shipping and arrival dates and are now delayed a week or more. I wonder if the Black Friday strikes by Amazon workers (which supposedly were pretty minimal) are causing that.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
If Amazon is putting more of the burden on USPS to save money and they are themselves already overburdened, maybe that's it?

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
It's all USPS delivery (UPS for larger items) here in Hawaii. They have a distribution center here where they receive and sort the cargo from the daily Amazon Air flights, but then they deposit it into the USPS distribution center for last mile delivery.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
My 2 Criterions still haven't shipped yet. I doubt they are arriving tomorrow. I'm not in a rush by any means, but I find it interesting how slow some shipments are now.
Edit: And after i typed this, i got the shipping email |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I live ~70 miles from their Memphis, TN warehouses (they have ~10 there, plus a major return center on the outskirts). It's also the home of the USPS distribution center for where I live - not in the boonies (we have interstate all the way from Memphis to us). Amazon uses USPS and UPS for all deliveries I've received the past 3-4 years. One Christmas I saw a few of the Amazon delivery vans in town and *one* shipment I received was delivered by one with the rest coming USPS/UPS. USPS delivers ~80% of my orders and there's no rhyme or reason for when UPS gets one with at least half of the "UPS" deliveries actually being UPS Mail Innovations (where they generally hand off to USPS for "last mile"). If Amazon manages to get the package to the USPS distribution center, which is central to *any* of the Memphis warehouse locations (think of the warehouses like spokes off the hub), I'll get a package in a day or two. Amazon often bungles that by sending things to Little Rock or Nashville on their way to the Memphis USPS center.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
A week before Thanksgiving, on Thursday I placed an order for several items. Most were in the $10-20 range, but there was also a faucet water filter ($35) and a countertop ice maker ($230). I chose the delivery option of having them all delivered on the same day, which would be that Monday. I could have had some of the items sooner, but I figured it would be easier this way. I was planning to leave town Tuesday morning to visit family for Thanksgiving, so a Monday delivery would be fine. Well, all day Monday--since like 8 am--the tracking info says my shipment is out for delivery. First it was saying it would arrive by 1 pm. Then by 6 pm. Then by 10 pm. Then it was saying "Still arriving today" but by then I knew it was a lie. Finally sometime after midnight the tracking updated to say it would be delivered Tuesday. So I had to delay my departure by a few hours, but my delivery finally arrived early Tuesday afternoon. I checked through the boxes. I had ordered two power strips but only one was delivered. I got to the last box that must contain the water filter. Nope, it was a bottle of organic body wash that I definitely didn't order. No water filter.
So after the holiday weekend I got back home and was looking at my options for contacting customer service. I rolled the dice and went with the online "chat" option (which is just an automated system) and it actually went fairly well. I just asked for a refund on the missing power strip, but I requested a replacement for the water filter. The water filter was shipped out pretty quickly after that, but then on the supposed delivery day I went through the same rigamarole with the "out for delivery" tracking being pushed back further and further until it finally changed to "arriving tomorrow." It did finally arrive the next day, so I guess that's a win. |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I've come to the point where I'm not even researching gift items on Amazon anymore. I've either bought my Christmas gifts in-store or from the manufacture website (and the companies had some good sales, not MSRP amounts).

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
The other day I walked by a USPS vehicle and I could see many small Amazon packages.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Speaking of Amazon and the USPS. Yesterday, the USPS delivered an Amazon package to our house. They had a package for our neighbor, too. Our neighbors live on a flag lot; their front yard is behind our back yard. But rather than drive back down the street and up their driveway, or *shudder* walk to our neighbor's front door, the USPS delivery person drove their vehicle across our grass divider as a short-cut onto the neighbor's driveway.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Maybe someone needs to start a USPS complaint thread. I don't see how that's Amazon's fault.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
It's not.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I placed an order today, which tried to default to 2 day shipping. That wouldn't be a big deal, but these were the two options:
FREE One-Day shipping - get it Tomorrow, Dec 16 FREE Two-Day shipping - get it Friday, Dec 29 Okay, I'll take the One-Day shipping, but what a bizarre set of options. |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
You should've gone for the 29th. Help celebrate my birthday.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I'll be celebrating alongside you, anyway. The 29th will be my last day of work before retirement! :toast:

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
A friend sent me a copy of Waxwork 1 and 2 that is from the Vestron video collection. The damn 2-disc case came broken from Amazon. It was a clear case. Luckily I had a spare 2 disc case, but blue colored. I'll post a picture of how bad it looked. It looks like it was probably tossed and dropped a few times.
