Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I did a online chat asking them to deliver a package after 4pm and they said they would do it but it arrived around 1pm.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Just received a yellow envelope from amazon with nothing inside. The post office put a sticker across where the envelope should have been sealed stating that it was open when they received it. Both items are nowhere to be found. I did get a refund since both CDs were the last ones listed on the site.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
As a long-time customer, I have virtually no complaints about Amazon's reliability or trustworthiness, but I take enormous exception to its ruthless, predatory business and employment practices. This leaves my with a certain amount of self-loathing for continuing to be a customer.

I'd never had a complaint about the Amazon return process in nearly twenty years, but now I've had two issues in a row:
I returned a book with busted binding back in December. UPS tracking showed it was returned, but I waited two weeks before calling customer service to ask why I hadn't been refunded. They ended up issuing the amount as a courtesy credit (since I'd paid with a gift card, I didn't mind this), but the order page still incorrectly shows the return was not received. Cut to this month, I was sent a defective charger (twice) and had to return it for a refund. It was delivered back to them over a week ago, but still no refund. In the past, they've usually issued it as soon as the package was scanned by UPS and en route back to their warehouse. There's also no holiday backup to account for this delay. Other than that screw up from December, it's never taken this long for them to process a refund. |

The last 5 years have been dwindling, going toward the doggerel comedy of "evil" business practices. So, I no longer support them or shop there because of the principle of the matter. I eschew their current practices and make every effort to open people's eyes -- that Amazon is not their friend anymore! One of the three "evil" companies -- Amazon, Apple, Google being the trifecta... Verizon and AT&T (and the ISPs) getting dishonorable mention as "evil"-mongers as well. |

Hate to break it to you but amazon was never your friend...

Then the bullshit (greedy, predatory things) started, they became "too big" and reliability started going downhill. Packages often arrived damaged and / or inappropriately packaged. But, reliability was still good, and so was customer service.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Had an item not arrive this past Thursday on it's scheduled date with some other things. Later in the evening, everything got marked as delivered including the missing item. Logged into their live chat, explained the issue, said I was home for the delivery so there was no way it could have been taken, and they had a new one at my door on Sunday. Pretty damn good service, IMO.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Anyone use Amazon locker and how does that work when you want to pick up the package? Is there a limit to how long they will hold the package?
I hope they don't call you to pick up the package. I can find out if it has arrived by checking online. |

It's a dilemma. The convenience and savings for a veritable low-income hermit like me is undeniable, but I chafe at supporting a company whose apparently diabolical practices I revile.
Honestly, the decline in reliability I noted, is small potatoes compared to the more nefarious obscene accumilation of wealth (and, thereby, power) that Bezos has accrued. He tends toward the more "evil" things rather than the "good" things in the way he brandishes that wealth and power. That's my problem with Amazon -- and it should also be other peoples' problem, but they're blinded by the conveneince that Amazon offers. So, they go along in their selfish inclinations, as is their wont. And Amazon gets more and more out of control by the month. |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
^Good for you that you have been able to cease shopping there. I will get to that point too, but a few customers lost due to the unmitigated greed of oligarch Bezos won't stop the Amazon juggernaut.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
A recent complaint from me: I've received several items over the last few months where the boxes contained inadequate packing material to prevent damage or the items (notably hardcover books) were shipped in bubble envelopes. I've complained once to a customer service rep and got to two items comped to me, which earns Amazon a big thumbs up. However, I keep receiving items that are crunched, which is annoying.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Has anyone tracked a shipment from Amazon that states it's been delivered, but you still haven't received it? I ordered several Blu-rays, but they shipped out two different orders. Amazon tracking reads that the first order was delivered at 1:28 this afternoon. It's not in the mailbox or anywhere near the front door, so I assume it must still be on the way. Or so I hope. The second order still reads "out for delivery."

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Was it shipped via Amazon's service or a national carrier? If it's Amazon shipment and they didn't include a picture of the delivery, I would file a claim.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
So I hadn't SOLD on amazon in a while, but I have a rare book I can make a good profit on, but since my seller account had been deactivated for a couple years, they wouldn't let me reactivate it. There was a button for that, but nothing happened when I pressed it. I learned that once your seller account is deactivated, you have to create a WHOLE NEW account in order to sell again on amazon.
What a bunch of bullshit. Just reactivate my seller account you assholes! Sheesh. |

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Ugh. Why is Amazon using these shirty mailers that make a forking mess when you slice them open? I hate this shirt. It looks like a bubble envelope but the padding isn't bubble wrap anymore. It's this fuzzy shirt that goes everywhere.
p.s. If anyone's planning on ordering I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu, DONT. It's a forking BD-R but the item listing doesn't show it. |

It was shipped through Amazon's service. Originally, the first order was scheduled to be delivered (Tuesday) today, but Amazon tracking has it listed as being delivered yesterday. Next time I'll just take the option of having everything shipped in one package.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
So I now have another item that was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday and it never arrives. I get a message that it will not arrive Thursday or Friday and I'm going to be out of town until Monday. So now I'll have a $150 item sitting on my doorstep for 3 or 4 days until I get back. Tried to do the live chat. All they tell me to do is contact the postal carrier. It shouldn't be my job to do what I'm paying them them $129 a year to do. This chat rep was fairly rude, acted like he didn't want to handle it. They don't seem to be offering the $5 promotional credit anymore for late garunteed deliveries. I just checked the item page and it says if I order the same item within the next 5 hours I can get it by Thursday and possibly earlier than the one I ordered 2 days ago. Looks like the price dropped $10 on the item since I ordered it, so I'm just going to order another one delivered to where I'm going and I'll just ship the other one back to them at their expense when I get home. I'm seriously debating renewing Prime at this point. The majority of the time I pick the slow shipping for the promotional credit, but it seems whenever I really need something in the tow day shipping they never get it to me on time.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
Now after checking my order page it appears the rep authorized a return of the product on my behalf. They are issuing me a refund for the item minus $7.36. So now I'm paying them $129 a year for faster shipping that they can't fulfill, but I now have to take the time to repackage the item and drive to a UPS store to drop the item off and I lose $7.36 in the process!!

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I cancelled prime and now my amazon experience has been great. I never used their streaming service so I was just paying to have damaged items delivered late or not at all. Now I still get most items within 2 days and for some reason everything has been packaged better.

I go through phases with my Amazon ordering. I've debated canceling my Prime account so many times but I figure I order enough that it pays for itself. Plus, their streaming service has some alright selections so it's nice to have that option. |
Re: The complaining about Amazon thread
I have Prime, but I usually choose the no rush shipping option so I can get $1 credits for ebook purchases. Most of the time, the packages get to me as fast as they would with 2 day shipping.
