Amazon lists OOP title as "Temporarily Unavailable"
So amazon.com has The Greatest Show On Earth listed as 9.99$ but as Temporarily Unavailable. Since the title is known the be OOP, and Amazon is usually pretty up-to-date on these things, I was wondering what the likelihood was that my order would be filled.
Anyone had any similar situation that ended up working in their favor?

At first I'd say you're out of luck but I've seen other titles say Temporarily Unavailable with no date of when they'd get more. Then one day more showed up.

There are a couple of instances, where I ordered an out of print book from Amazon and they did end up getting it for me. In one case it took almost a year for an out of print the book to come back in stock, but it did. The book never went back into print, either. They're either finding new stock from distributors, or things tend to get lost in their inventory management system.
Also did the same with at least one DVD that I remember. That one took about a month.

Temporarily unavailable shows up for a variety of reasons on Amazon. In this instance:
1. The title is OOP
2. Amazon does not have and will not get anymore
3. The 9.99 price comes from an marketplace seller(s) who fullfill with Amazon.
4. This marketplace seller no longer has it.
5. If a marketplace seller who fullfills with Amazon lists a new copy it will become available and ship if you ordered it.
Take a look at the Hatari! dvd listing. Right now at 59.00, fullfilled by Amazon but offered by a marketplace seller. Should this sell, the listing will revert to the same as Greatest Show On Earth, "temporarily unvailable" at 59.00

Paramount is actually going to be bringing back some catalogue titles. If you look at dvdplanet and look at preorders you will see a bunch of Paramount titles being released in feb. and march. There is a distinct possibility these paramount releases are coming in some form. Either a repressing or a clearing of old stock. When this title is searched on dvdplanet it shows as coming soon. Walmart.com also has many of these listed as preorders.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of DVD Planet, they had this and another title I had on standby with Amazon (Ordinary People), both listed with a Feb. 21st street date.
