Question about Best Buy returns.

I recently took part in BB's "Spend $50 on TV seasons and get a $10 gift card" promotion. I bought S1 and S2 of Community and S1 & S2 (one set) of Children's Hospital. I got them home and opened them and the Children's Hospital set was covered with fingerprints and scratched badly, like someone took a sharp object and decided to use it to **** up some DVD's. I took it back to BB the next day and exchanged it. I got that copy home and it was even worse than the first! Maybe it's a manufacturing problem or something, I don't know.

When I take it back again I'm just going to ask for a refund (I'm assuming they'll give me a gift card since the set is opened). My question is, how would that work with the $10 gift card promotion? I can't return the gift card because I've already used it. Will they just refund me the price minus whatever amount that particular set added to the gift card? My receipt has the price of the set ($24.99) and then under that is (Package Gift Card VA: $3.33). Will they just refund me the $24.99 minus the $3.33?

Sorry for the long post but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Question about Best Buy returns.

It's doubtful they will give you a cash refund for an open DVD. If all of the copies at that store are bad, try a different store.

As for the gift card, I think when you make a return, they pro-rate the refund, so, yes, you would deduct $3.33. I think they do this even if you haven't used the gift card. They would do the same if you were returning an unopened copy, too.

just do another exchange, but this time open it at the store. If they are out of the title then they should exchange it for something with a similar value.
