I was hoping to purchase a couple of Amazon gift cards on eBay and was amazed by the prices. I was expecting maybe 2-5% off the total price, but they're going for 30+% above value.

For example:
Amazon.com Gift Card $238.23 Value
6 Bids - $321.00

$50 AMAZON GIFT CARD
5 Bids - $66.00

AMAZON e-Gift Card $273
20 Bids - $367.00

Does anyone know what's going on over there that people are bidding significantly more than marked value on these? A quick look at other stores' gift cards show them going at the usual ~10% off face value.

I'm going to go with "People are stupid"

90% of "gift cards" for sale on ebay are being bought with stolen credit cards.


I wouldn't touch these as you are asking for trouble with receiving stolen merch.


But paying more for these stolen cards than the value.. WTF??

I have purchased Amazon gift cards on Ebay for years without a problem. If one is up for $100 I will put my top bid at 99.01 that way the next increment is above the face value. They always get bid up above face value by idiots who never pay and I always get the second chance offer within a few days. 99% of the time the winner bidder for these above face value auctions is someone very new to Ebay.

I don't get it... so you save a buck? Or am I missing something here?
