Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

I wonder what the difference between a "Just Arrived" and "New Release" is.

And what qualifies as a "Top Pick" as opposed to a "Library" title?"

Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

$4.99 for a fucking rental- THAT'S a good way to compete with Redbox's $1 pricing! I've BOUGHT (brand-new) a large percentage of my DVDs for that much or less.

Hope I can at least get one of those Simpsons SceneIt games cheap when the next store closes, I was too slow to grab one when the last one did. Making a list of out-of-print titles to watch for too when the big one hits.

Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

just left my local Albertsons early Friday evening where there was line 4 deep for two Redbox machines....$1 for dvd, $1.50 for blu-rays. I only use Netflix because hate lines or driving though they could defintely improve things.

Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

So just got back from Blockbuster and they've changed stuff again. I tried to exchange my mailer for a reduced price game rental and appartently you can no longer do that? and also game rentals are 3 days instead of 5 now. That blows as I wanted to rent a game for the holiday weekend.
Used to be $4.99 for 5 days for a game now it's $5.99 for 3 days

I complained and the manager let me rent the game for the old reduced price, but that'll be a one-time only deal.

Is this the new plan to get them back in the game? Or just an individual store desperately trying to hang on

Are you sure it isn't a franchise?
I'm in a corp and the games are still 5 days and you can use the returns for games at $5.

Also corp stores charge 8.99 for 5 day game rentals. plus it's .99 for each extra day.

I have no idea but it just changed today he said. Just Last week i rented a game the old way.

The price used to be that for 5 day rentals but now its just a flat rate for 3 days only regardless of online rentals instead of 8.99/4.99

Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

well I go in tomorrow so I'll find out if this is company wide, I haven't heard of any price changes like this yet. Our store has been a test store for the last month and we didn't have these prices.

Re: Buh-bye Blockbuster

My nearest B&M store is closing (Jamboree & Irvine Blvd), so now I have to go over to Tustin to exchange any of my mailer titles. The Tustin loctation also has the new four-tier pricing structure in place. What a ridiculous outfit. I can't even imagine high school students in a business class be able to build a sound and logical case for doing things this way. Good riddance to BB! I'm seriously considering changing to Netflix or Redbox.
