What in the world are you talking about? I mean, I get what you're saying and all, but don't you think that's a bit of a stretch? I bought stuff there that I was going to buy there regardless, and they give me points for that, which turns into free money. I don't just buy there just for the sake of racking up points. Take for example, Avatar's Blu-ray release this week. I didn't buy it at BB, because it was cheaper elsewhere. But when the prices are better around the area at Best Buy, or some kind of electronic I want is on sale there, then I buy. But, really, thanks for assuming I go to Best Buy and blow a bunch of money just for the sake of getting reward zone bucks, lol.

I'll pile on here and say that you're way off base here.

It is a great program. Totally free, just an extra bonus on top of the loss leader and sale pricing that I already get there.

I'm a cheap-ass that rarely pays more than all but the most extreme shoppers here, and I buy as much at Best Buy than at any other retailer, online or not. In fact, if I had to guess I'd say that I spend more at Best Buy than anywhere else. None of those purchase decisions are affected by the RZ program, that's all gravy.

Exactly.

And when it all boils down to it, the only question one has to ask, especially with a retailer like Best Buy that usually does pretty well with release week prices, "What other store is doing that for you, for free?"

Are you really only getting 2% back with RZ? And maybe i should start checking the BB ads so I can find all these loss leader everyone is talking about.

Re: A couple of things I really hate about reward zone

I tried to let this thread die. I really did, but this has got me really upset. Now when you're a member of the gamer's club you are supposed to get 250 bonus points for preordering red dead redemption. Which I did. However, my preorder posted, but no points. Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with this?

You're not going to get any points until after the return period of course.

The return period after I buy the game or on the preorder?

My guess would be the game. Otherwise, everyone would exploit the system to cost the company money in ways it hadn't intended. Giving $5 in store credit on a $60 purchase is more than a little different than giving $5 for nothing.

I see what you're saying, but the preorder does cost money. I'll see what the deal is after I buy the game.

Cancel your pre-order, pre-order it at Wal-Mart or Amazon, and get a $20 gift card instead of points that you have to wait for them to turn into a certificate in 90 days.

Problem solved.

return on preorder is over. I can't return it. I wish I would have known about the Walmart deal.

There is no such thing as a time limit on pre-order returns.

BB contacted me and said they are going to me the points. It seems like the website did not register when I joined the gamer's club, but its clearly says I'm a member.

Re: A couple of things I really hate about reward zone

In my experience, Reward Zone only really works when you shop through Best Buy. And since I'm a sucker for a good deal, I haven't been there in a while. That's the way the ball bounces in many ways. When they get more deals (and I get a better job), I'll probably go back.

Re: A couple of things I really hate about reward zone

just an fyi, i recall reading here and there instances of points not being correctly applied to gamer rewardzone program. im guessing its a glitch in the rewardzone system itself, so make sure to check for accuracy i guess.
