BestBuy 1 cent padding item?

Does anyone know of any 1 cent padding items on bestbuy.com? I want to order a $14.99 blu-ray with $15 in reward zone certificates. I get free shipping as Silver Reward member, so it doesn't matter if the padding item adds shipping. The lowest items I could find on their site were some $1 promo dvds.

Looks like the cheapest thing on the site is 99 cents.

Don't know if this link will work or not, but here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....s&nrp=15&iht=n

isn't it better to give up the one cent, than to spend 99 cents on something you don't want anyway????

You don't get that option, you have to spend at least $x to use a cert that is worth $x.

Must be different than in store than, as I have run into this issue before and just forfeited the penny.

You could spend $0.99 and get the first episode of "Lie to Me" on DVD. It is only $1 and may be available via in-store pickup so you won't have shipping costs (that is if you are using in-store for you blu).

I would gladly forfeit the penny--the policy on the RZ certificates is that you must spend at least the total on the certificates--if they let you get by in the store, it's YMMV.

Lucky! I had a $20 one and my item was $19.99 and they wouldn't let me do it. They told me to buy candy or soda. I didn't and just kept it for next time.

This is very interesting, and unknown to me. I have never had this problem at my local store. I wonder if this is because they can't have an item sell for $0.00.

Re: BestBuy 1 cent padding item?

I always thought RZ certs worked like gift cards. Meaning that if I had a $15 RZ cert and I bought something that was $10, I would have $5 left. Isn't that how it works? So if you use the $15 cert, on $14.99, you'd be left with a penny on the cert?

I don't know, whenever I'm in this situation I give in and do what Best Buy and other retailers expect me to do. Buy something else that I want to. So instead of buying a $14.99 DVD and a candy bar, I'd buy 2 DVDs and just pay the rest in cash.

It's never worked that way at my local BB. Like the above posters, I've always had to match or exceed the value of my RZ certificate to use it.

Re: BestBuy 1 cent padding item?

You used to be able to find those promo discs (like the Lie to Me one) for 1 cent--I once bought a 49.99 game and one of those to bump to $50 so I could use a $10 off $50 coupon. I wish they would just make the prices nice even numbers and it would make things easier. Anyway, to get by my problem, I just used $25 in RZ certificates to order 2 14.99 blu-rays. If I decide I don't want the second one, I'll just return it and get $12.50 credited back to my RZ acct. At least they charge tax on the post RZ price--so only 25 cents in tax instead of 1.50, and I got free shipping as a RZ Silver member (I have the credit card--I didn't spend that much just at BestBuy )

There is a 1 cent item now. It is backordered, but that doesn't matter. Even if they cancel it from your order, it will be too late. They'll process the other items...
