Whats up with Amazon's Shipping lately?

Everytime in the past, even when using Supersaver shipping for preorders I would always get a notice on Saturday that my items were shipped, and I would usually recieve them on the following Wednesday (one day after release) . I recently ordered several items for the 23rd release date (on 4 separate orders) and none of them have even been processed by the 23rd. Some of them show delivery of a few weeks even though they are in stock. Whats up with that?

I cancelled some of my orders and bought the items locally.

Thanks for the sound advice, disneyguy. Did you wipe your bottom after that thread crap?

OP, I too have experienced the delayed shipping from Amazon. I rarely order from them, but their prices on new release HD and BD titles have been stellar, making it hard to pass up. Because I'm not highly anticipating any of the releases... i.e. I don't need them immediately I am willing to forgive the delays. But that's not to say it is acceptable.

There's an older thread talking about similar issues here...

Amazon has been doing this a lot more recently. Unless you pay a bit extra for expedited shipping, it seems like they sit on the order for a while before even processing it. This happened to me about 2 months ago when I pre-ordered a couple of cds. I chose the Super Saver Shipping and wound up receiving an e-mail saying that the cds would be shipping AFTER the release date. Like you, I cancelled my order and picked them up in person.

I received Breathless yesterday and I was expecting a box since all my past orders have come in one but lo and behold what did it come in:

A frigging bubble pack!

I've never received a package from Amazon.com in a bubble mailer, no matter how small the order. In fact, my Breathless DVD came in an oversized box, but securely packaged.

I've also noted that shipping is taking a little longer than before...e.g. my order will immediately transition to the Shipping Soon stage, then sit there a couple of days before it ships.

This happens on 1 out of every 4 orders, whereas in the past, it never happened. I am an Amazon Prime member, if that helps.

Overall, I'm still pleased with Amazon and would pick them any day over any other web business....although, I've been annoyed enough to contact them recently on this. They always address my queries within hours, if not minutes.

Those weren't Kubricks, were they? There were widespread problems with those, though great that you found them locally.

That's funny. On another board, people were mentioning they were getting cds mailed to them in bubble packs. I wonder if this is something Amazon is switching to?

Amazon list all of these items in stock now, but says they won't ship until the end of the month.

anyone have an email address or phone number handy. can't find anything on that site.

Prime member here as well. I have bought tens of thousands of dollars from Amazon and never have gotten anything in a bubble mailer. I have gotten pillows in gigantic boxes with what seems like a hundred feet of those air pillows. It didn't make sense especially since I have ordered chips from them and there was next to no protection. Back to the question... I have noticed that shipping for pre-orders is slower. I use to have them one day after the release (they would ship before the release date) even before I was a prime member. Now I don't get them until two days after with two day shipping meaning they aren't sending things out early anymore.

I just got a PS3 remote in a bubble mailer. EDIT: this was a blu-ray PS3 remote already in a plastic blisterpack so no big deal.

My last three single item (DVD Sets) orders from Amazon; Twin Peaks Gold, The Complete New Statesman and the Only Fools and Horses Specials Collection, have all arrived in bubble packs. The latter two were fine as the cases are of the durable moulded plastic type, but the TP Box is a light cardboard and the coverside of the spine had a some damage, which was a pisser.

Over the weekend I ordered a small Casio electronic keyboard for my daughter for Christmas from Amazon and it arrived today by UPS, who left it on my doorstep. Amazon had shipped it in the product box with no outer packaging. Anyway, the thing looks like it has been kicked around a parking lot, there are three large shipping stickers on it and, joy of joy, my daughter got to it long before it did. My wife and me have run a little playaction since we got it in the house, but I think my daughter (who's five) smells some BS. To be honest I'm not sure what to think. The thing is approx 26 x 9 inches and about 6 deep, was a i naive to assume it would come in an outer box? I've had larger, heavier items arrive with outer packaging, so it just seems a little shoddy to me.

Usually when an item will be shipped without an outer box, there is a not-terribly-obvious note somewhere on the product page, under the price and availability info.

My Amazon orders always come in boxes, but lately I've had a problem where they ship something and do it 3 day select. I'm an amazon prime member so wtf?

Whenever I email them, they respond "We shipped it earlier than the expected ship date, so it will arrive on time."
